We are looking to hire a R&D Senior Technician – Beachwood, OH

The primary function of a Senior Technician is to use and develop technical skills in themselves and others to support the development and maintenance of advanced chemical solutions for new construction, preservation, repair or renovation of structures. The employee will support scientists in designing experiments, coordinate lab resources and experimental activities, train junior technicians and promote mastery of multiple related technologies within the department.
A Senior Technician will have expertise in testing methods, applications and troubleshooting of multiple technologies; and deep understanding of processes and raw materials, including their functions in formulations. Provide written and verbal reports summarizing data and drawing conclusions within and outside department.
In addition to the basic responsibilities above, the Senior Technician will effectively coordinate efforts in support of project objectives, develop presentations within and outside organization, design and coordinate training within and outside organization, and demonstrate customer focus.
The incumbent provides support to other technicians, scientists and managers through the performance of industry-related technical and organizational activities. The position level will be decided based on individual skillset and experience and resides within Construction Systems R&D organization.
These skills and experiences will make you a good fit for this role
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science field is preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience with materials testing and coatings in a lab environment. Experience related to cementitious products is a plus.
- Willing to learn from scientists, senior teammates on lab work and product evaluation.
- Works with team members supporting development projects and other tasks as assigned.
- Must be able to follow standard test protocols, such as ASTM and other industry standards.
- Must be hands on and willing to help maintaining labs, chemicals, and storage areas.
- Knows Forklift operation or willing to get certification to operate.
- Must be able to lift bags and pails of materials as a part of routine lab work.
- Travels to plants in the U.S. for trials and troubleshooting when requested.
- Highly safety oriented.
- Willing to keep work hours flexible to accommodate lab testing and data collection.
