Basic Function
Responsible to review, prepare, negotiate and assess contracts for the purchase of goods and services, including contracts, leases, memorandum of understanding and non-disclosure agreements. Handle the planning, creation and updating of contracts based on the needs of all parties. Review contracts for legal compliance and compliance with University Policy.
Essential Job Functions
| 1. Negotiate, prepare, and edit contract agreements for products and services. Eliminate, mitigate, and transfer institutional risk, as appropriate, through effective due diligence and standard operating guidelines when establishing vendor and service relationships. Assure all necessary clauses and details are included in contracts. | 2. Research regulations to guarantee contracts are updated and in compliance with laws. Work with University General Counsel and outside legal counsel as necessary on contracts with specific risks or complexities. Suggest and maintain registration and filing requirement for tax exemption in Ohio and various other states. | 3. Assist in procurement of institutional insurance coverage, analyze and recommend insurance coverage, limits and insured perils. Collaborate with the Director of Business Services and others as necessary to negotiate handling and settling of claims on behalf of university; analyze and investigate liability of property and injury claims. | 4. Implement and maintain systems and technology that properly organize and manage the Contracting functions of Business Services, resulting in quality service, ease of use and efficient operations.Maintain systems for contract renewals, contract notifications, certificates of insurance and other contract-specific requirements.Maintain an organized system of physical and digital records. | 5. Negotiate leases for portfolio of campus rental properties, as well as lease arrangements for the vehicle fleet, copier pool, and other operating leases. Manage vending contracts and relationships. | 6. Handle procurement projects and assist with the RFP development process and evaluation of responses. | 7. Support the development and creation of policies and procedures, and training materials related to the functions of the Office of Business Services. | 8. Communicate effectively and cultivate positive working relationships with students, faculty and staff throughout the campus | 9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience can be substituted for education.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional qualifications in Law a Plus, Good knowledge of Contract Law; Strong negotiation and mediation skills; attention to detail
