The Residential Life program provides resident students with the support and supervision they need to thrive so that they learn about themselves, their relationship to others and their responsibilities as a member of the Flintridge Sacred Heart community.

Essential Job Functions:
Residential Life Program
Demonstrate a commitment to the school’s mission of a Catholic, Dominican education and skillfully integrate this into the Residential Life program.
Provide leadership and initiative in planning, coordinating and implementing the goals of the residential life program, including development of student activities program, with a particular focus on the weekend activities and events.
Establish and administer policies that govern residential life.
Oversee the schedule and content of the res life student orientation program.
Manage interface between academics, athletics, co-curriculum and residential life programs so as to ensure the complementary operation of their respective offerings that proactively encourages day student involvement.
When possible, staff student life program events for day and boarding student with resident and nonresident faculty, faculty plus one assignees and other staff volunteers to ensure sufficient coverage and integration.
Design, market and implement a robust Host family program.
Coordinate with the Assistance Principal of Student Affairs, the Nurse, Counselors and Advisors to handle major and minor discipline issues, health issues and other student concerns.
Coordinate the selection, training and performance of student Res Life Leadership Council.
Plan evening and weekend program activities for both day and res life students.
Plan and implement comprehensive residential life curriculum.
Staff Supervision and Development:
Hires, trains and evaluates all staff members of the Residential Life department.
Leads regular residential life staff meetings.
Schedules the residential life staff to ensure proper coverage.
Stays at the forefront of independent boarding schools by reviewing best practices, following current research and contributing to the larger professional community. Attends annual professional development and coordinates in-service training for resident life staff.
Administration:
In coordination with the Director of Admissions and the Director of Marketing and Communications, strategizes the marketing of the boarding program and recruitment of boarding candidates (including international travel); Serves on the boarding admissions committee.
Assists with school activities, including, but not limited to open house, new student orientation, alumnae events, student retreats, etc.
Oversees and manages the budget for the residential life program.
Other Job Functions:
Serve as an advisor to a group of about 15 students (day and/or boarding).
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required/Master’s preferred in education or related field
Prior experience in schools and/or living with students; collaborative leadership style; experience in developing residential life curriculum.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Strategic Planning – Experience in developing, leading, and executing strategic plans.
Microsoft Office – Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Google Workspace.
Financial Management– Basic working knowledge of budget management practices.
Technology – Comfortable with technology. Able to apply technology solutions to improve efficiency
Problem Solving & Analysis– Adept at identifying problems, able to conduct appropriate analysis and reach effective solutions commensurate with level of responsibility.

Some standing and walking required, and the ability to lift, carry and/or pull at least 10 pounds.
Adverse movements required such as reaching overhead, bending, or crouching.
Simultaneous/repetitive use of both hands is required for writing and data entry.
Excellent sensory skills are important (sight, hearing and speech).

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
