The MBA Summer Associate, Strategy & Growth role will support the divisions of Ziff Davis (NASDAQ: ZD) that own & operate premium Technology, Shopping, Gaming & Entertainment digital media and software brands. Leading properties within Ziff Davis’s Tech & Shopping (T&S) portfolio includes: RetailMeNot, Mashable, PCMag, TDS Gift Cards, Lifehacker, Spiceworks, and more. The Gaming & Entertainment (G&E) portfolio includes: IGN Entertainment, Humble Bundle, MapGenie, 1/TwentyFour and more.
We are seeking a highly motivated MBA Summer Associate to develop and implement organic and inorganic growth strategies for Ziff Davis Tech, Shopping, Gaming & Entertainment properties. The Strategy & Growth team reports to the President of Ziff Davis T&S, and MBA Summer Associates will report to the Director of Strategy & Growth.
The Strategy & Growth team drives impact in three core areas:
Division & Brand Strategy Development: Leading organic growth initiatives (e.g., new products, services, and business models), implementing cross-portfolio brand alignments and synergies, building market sizing / market research analysis, conducting business analytics and competitive intelligence across our various verticals, and additional special projects (e.g., Office of the President, Board presentations).
Mergers & Acquisitions: Supporting the division and individual business units with M&A strategy development, target sourcing & relationship development, valuation modeling support, commercial diligence, external pitch decks, relationship development, and investment memo development.
Business Development: Researching and implementing revenue-generating partnerships that build on organic growth strategies; leading divisional vendor / supplier partnerships.
Each MBA Summer Associate will have at least one specific, defined project to work on over the summer that could include activities such as: developing growth strategies for portfolio brands, identifying and evaluating M&A targets, securing a new strategic partnership, new market entry recommendations, etc., with additional opportunities to gain exposure to other areas of the Strategy & Growth’s team’s impact. At the end of the 10-week program, each MBA Summer Associate will deliver a presentation to Ziff Davis divisional leadership summarizing their recommendations and projected impact.
Ideal candidates are self-starters capable of owning and pushing projects from start-to-finish, are excellent communicators, can summarize recommendations as supported by financial analyses in presentation-format, and have a good understanding of the digital media and tech landscape.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be pursuing a full-time MBA with an expected graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025
Have authorization to work in the United States after graduation
Be able to complete a 10 week program beginning in June 2024
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven interest in Ziff Davis Tech, Shopping, Gaming, Entertainment verticals
Strategic problem solver, with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Strong analytical skills and ability to solve difficult business problems through financial models and other supporting analyses
Prior experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, and/or equivalent experience in tech / digital media
