Description
Under general supervision, oversees operation of storeroom, places orders, receives, stores, issues and maintains current and accurate inventory of required bus, auto, truck and vehicular related equipment/replacement parts, materials and supplies for the city's transportation facility.

Representative Duties Monitors inventory levels; takes physical inventory of parts and equipment and maintains an inventory log of all supplies; orders parts and supplies in a timely manner to ensure availability when needed; receives warehouse shipments, unloads and systematically stores materials in proper location; periodically picks up shipments; operates various equipment used in unloading, storing and organizing storeroom items; issues materials, equipment and supplies to maintenance staff according to established procedures; maintains shelves and parts in a clean and orderly condition; inspects shipments against packing slip and original order and resolves discrepancies; follows up on overdue orders with vendors; labels parts and bins to identify warehouse stock; assists in obtaining the best price for purchase of items; prepares requisitions for restocking and replacement of items; maintains accurate inventory records and compiles various reports as required; resolves issues related to vendor invoicing, processes warranty claims and performs other related duties, as assigned.
Organizational Responsibilities The coordinator reports to the Transit Maintenance Manager or designee and is primarily responsible for oversight of the maintenance storeroom, including ordering, receiving, storing and dispensing supplies, parts and equipment.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience High school graduation or equivalent G.E.D. Certificate AND any four (4) years of recent, paid work experience performing stockroom or warehouse duties in a parts warehouse, supply store, or dealership. At least one (1) year experience in the heavy truck or transit industry is most desirable. Any combination of education and experience that demonstrate the level of knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of the position may be considered.
Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of warehousing methods and procedures; of receiving, storing, issuing, maintaining and keeping records of materials, supplies and equipment; and of automotive, truck, and vehicular related equipment, replacement parts and assemblies; to work independently with minimal direction; to understand and carry-out both oral and written instructions; to effectively use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and applicable inventory management software to perform duties; to perform inventory analysis and make recommendations to adjust inventory levels, components specifications, vendor selection, and operational enhancements; ability to source alternate suppliers; Must have the ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English with managers, peers and vendors and to provide effective customer service.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions Work is performed indoors with frequent exposure to noise. Will occasionally work outdoors receiving deliveries or delivering parts and equipment to maintenance personnel. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, using a computer terminal, talking, twisting (neck & waist), driving, listening, writing, grasping, holding, reaching, bending (neck & waist) squatting, kneeling, stretching and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Work schedule may be day or night shift assignments and may include weekends and holidays when necessary.
License Must have and maintain a valid Class C California driver's license.
Special Condition
Must be able to pass a job-related medical exam, which includes drug and alcohol testing.
