ABOUT THE POSITIONUnder the direction of the Executive Vice President, Student Services, the Long Beach College Promise Director will coordinate leadership efforts among the partners to drive initiatives, innovations, and most especially equity, within the Long Beach College Promise, as informed by the LB College Promise Steering Committee. The members of the Long Beach College Promise Steering Committee, is made up of representatives from Long Beach Unified School District, Long Beach City College, California State University Long Beach, the City of Long Beach, and the Port of Long Beach, in conjunction with the Chief Executive Officers of those institutions. This position is currently funded through June 30, 2026.

Duties
The College seeks candidates who exhibit an understanding and commitment to the educational pipeline our students experience moving from Long Beach Unified School District to Long Beach City College, and/or California State University, Long Beach. The candidate should also understand the community college mission, and have a passion for and a commitment to student success. This position encompasses the following professional responsibilities and competencies (this summary provides examples of typical tasks performed in this classification but is not exhaustive):
Collaboration & Initiatives
Provide leadership for the implementation of priorities, and equity efforts connected to the College Promise partnership
Work with the Long Beach College Promise Steering Committee and all CEOs to implement (activate?) priorities and initiatives for the College Promise forward
Engage in strategic thinking, planning, and strengthen institutional operations through innovation and collaboration with a focus on equity
Oversee historical and current institutional knowledge management for each partner and its priorities (including the Port of Long Beach and the City of Long Beach in relation to the College Promise) including documentation and record keeping
Research best practices and bring forward recommendations to insure the LB College Promise is on the cutting edge of strengthening partnerships for student success and equity
Bring partners together, including with external and internal stakeholders to inform operationalization of key initiatives and priorities of the College Promise
nform and oversee College Promise evaluation
Establish onboarding process for new Steering Committee members
Attend critical meetings with each College Promise partner and work among priority groups
Outreach & CommunicationsServe as point of contact for external inquiries related to the College Promise
Coordinate with each partners’ communications offices to convey cohesive and consistent messaging
Analyze, coordinate, and update partners’ LB College websites to convey cohesive messaging while allowing for focus of each individual partner
Plan, coordinate and direct a variety of internal and external public and private events including fundraising activities
FundraisingData reporting
Work with research departments at each institution to:Collaborate with all partnering institutions to update and operationalize data sharing agreement
Collect and synthesize data across partners/institutions to inform annual metric outcomes and day to day operations
Identify data gaps to strengthen data collection needs necessary to inform future of the College Promise
Analyze areas of disproportionate impact among student participants and communicate with partners to implement intentional interventions
Develop template for annual report and data reporting
Generate reports and submit reports as needed
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:This position reports to the Executive Vice President, Student Services and supervises and evaluates assigned staff.
PERSONNEL:Responsible for recommending the hire, transfer, suspension, lay-off, promotion, assignment, discipline, training, professional development, assignment, direction and performance evaluation of assigned staff; administering collective bargaining agreements, employment and promotion selection procedures; and compliance with District policies, rules and regulations regarding personnel; evaluation of the performance of assigned staff, providing direction and assistance wherever a need for improvement is identified.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a master’s degree; AND
- One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator’s administrative assignment; AND
- Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three or more years of experience providing leadership in education and/or higher education leadership
- Effective oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State and institutional programs
- Demonstrated ability to manage financial resources with a record of fiscal responsibility and accountability
- Evidence of experience in the areas of organization, planning, development, staffing, budget management, evaluation, and supervision reasonably related to the administrative assignment
- Practical and operational understanding of the Long Beach College Promise and components of the Promise
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and make timely, fair, and equitable decisions
- Demonstrated advocacy for students and student needs.
- Evidence of experience working with partners to drive initiatives and innovations with a focus on equity.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
