Summer School Dates: Monday, June 24th – Friday, July 12th
Description: Geffen Academy’s Summer Program offers in-person courses to current students as well as students from outside schools in grades 5 through 12. The program intends to help current and incoming students pursue their passions and take hold of summer enrichment offerings. Students will have the opportunity to join us for 5 days of the week on the Geffen Academy campus to stay in touch with classmates, make new friends, try new activities, and learn new skills.
Summary: The Geffen Academy Summer Foundations Coordinator will work directly with the Summer School Director to lead a cohort of 12-30 rising 5th grade students through a 5-hour enrichment school day. The Summer Foundations Coordinator will not – necessarily - teach classes, though they may. The Summer Foundations Coordinator will assist the lead classroom educators as-needed during 5 classes over the school day. The Summer School Foundations Coordinator will independently supervise two of the 15-minute day breaks and all of the 30-minute lunch period with the students. The Summer Foundations Coordinator will also be responsible for communicating with incoming 5th grade families, advised by the Summer School Director. The Foundations program will be taught in-person on Geffen Academy’s campus.
Job Duties: • Communicate with incoming 5th grade families about needs and details of the Foundations program. • Supervise two 15-minute student breaks daily and one 30-minute lunch period for the duration of the Summer Program. • Lead the cohort of students to each enrichment class and assist lead educators as-needed in the 5 classes. • Remain on-campus for student afternoon pick-up. • Arrive to Geffen Academy 30-minutes before scheduled student programing and depart 15- minutes after scheduled student programming. • Examine student areas and report to the campus operations manager if facilities and/or operational help is needed. • Monitor student activity to ensure a safe and clean space. • Agree to be a mandated reporter and abide by the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field. • Ability to communicate effectively with secondary school students (grades 5-12), especially those entering grade 5. • Flexible, excellent communication and listening skills. • Exhibit good judgment. • Responsible and observant. • Unquestionable personal integrity, excellent judgment, sound instincts, diplomacy and patience, and strong work ethic. • Must be self-directed and able to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks subject to frequent interruption. • Exceptional listening skills and sensitivity to the needs of others. • Collegially inclined with peers; a willing communicator and collaborator; enthusiastic team player. • Comfortable working within a fast-paced summer program environment.
