The Inventory Control Senior reports to the Global Inventory Accounting Manager. This position ensures compliance with GAAP and with 5.11 financial policies and procedures. Being an Inventory Control Senior employs standards, metrics, and procedures that maximize inventory management efficiency and accuracy. This position requires great interpersonal skills and the ability to interact cross functionally, and with different levels of management within the organization. The ideal candidate has strong business and financial analysis skills to ensure the success of company strategies as well as an understanding of inventory accounting and inventory control in a manufacturing and retail environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform monthly journal entries and account reconciliations of inventory general ledger accounts, including in transit and intercompany transactions, research purchase price variances, and record adjustments to correct account balances.
- Assists with data collection, report generation, monitoring of Warehouse and Retail count performance, results, and scheduling.
- Demonstrates proficiency at capturing, presenting, and explaining warehouse specific performance metrics (PPV).
- Able to produce a variety of complex reports and/or analyses on an ad-hoc basis in response to executive or upper management inquiries.
- Communicates with Manager regarding any large outstanding unreconciled balances or any issues timely.
- Assists with data collection and report generation as needed in PowerBI, Excel, Access, etc.
- Ensure transactions are appropriately being accounted for under US GAAP.
- Assist Global Inventory Accounting Manager with month end tasks, global inventory control implementation (particularly in retail environment) and carry out other assigned tasks as needed.
- Interact and manage relationships with various levels of management in order to timely and accurately prepare all necessary inventory month-end, quarter-end, and year-end supporting documentation for the accounting close.
- Evaluates deliveries, shipments and product levels to improve inventory control procedures.
- Provide support and aid to internal and external audits.
- Help implement or improve existing processes to minimize risk and increase internal controls to ensure compliance with internal control framework under COSO.
- Works effectively with a diverse cross-functional team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s or equivalent degree from an accredited university in accounting or finance.
- 3-5 years of public accounting experience, or 4+ years of industry experience with demonstrated levels of advancement.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and concepts based on US GAAP.
- Certified Public Accountant a plus.
- Prior experience with inventory in a manufacturing or retail environment a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics ERP (D365) system and Power BI a plus.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with emphasis on meeting tight deadlines.
- Extensive computer experience including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, advanced Excel skills (macro) required.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $95,000 plus bonus based on experience
