With resource and administrative consultation, the Clinical Director works independently with in-depth knowledge and skill of the specialty area to assume 24-hour responsibility for selected populations of patients and personnel. The Clinical Director provides leadership for staff members and has management and instructional responsibilities for maintaining quality nursing practices and skills as well as for supervising the employees on the units. Emphasis at this level is placed on facilitating problem solving through independent action, creativity, direction, evaluation, and teaching of staff.

Will demonstrate satisfactory achievement of Clinical Director behaviors within the initial probationary period. Informal teaching experience required. Knowledge of, and ability to apply the educational process, adult education theory, and group dynamics.
