Job Abstract

The Clinical Content Manager reports to the Senior Manager and functions as the primary expert in support of Clinical Content. Working in conjunction with the Senior Manager, the Clinical Content Manager is ultimately responsible for:

· Direct supervision of clinical content analysts including recruitment, coaching, recognition, and disciplinary actions.

· Maintenance, configuration, optimization, and implementation of clinical content in the Epic EHR system.

· Clinical content processes including ad-hoc requests and regularly scheduled engagements with each clinical specialty.

· Management and maintenance of business owners in metadata records (HCM) associated with various content records (i.e. PRL).

· Expanding clinical content to incorporate more records

· Leading the team in attaining a high level of clinical content knowledge, including identifying training needs for team members

· Partnering with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other applications AMs to ensure build consistency and a successful end-to-end workflow that meets the needs of their operational users

· Working with application trainers to ensure training provided to end users is accurate and provides resources to ensure training materials are up-to-date

· Defining and improving department processes, documenting these processes, and educating staff

Must be willing and able to come on site at least 1 day/month and with 12-hour response time if called to the office.

Salary offers are determined based on various factors including, (but not limited to), qualifications, experience, and equity. The full salary range for this position is listed below. The target salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary range.

Salary Range: $105,200 - $250,600 annually

Required Skills and Abilities

·         Must have or acquire certifications and Epic Badges required to support clinical content.  If Manager does not yet hold needed certifications or badges, travel to Wisconsin may be required to attend Epic Certification or badge training sessions as assigned by the Senior Manager.  Manager required to achieve certification (or badge) within three months of the last class and three exam attempts.

·         Broad, in-depth knowledge of multiple areas of focus in the Epic electronic health record including experience building and configuring the application.  Specific expertise in Epic clinical content build.  Knowledge of EHR systems and functions, including design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation. Proven ability to quickly learn about new specialties, workflows, or modules.

·         Ability to research, organize, analyze, and synthesize data to support effective decision making. Ability to coach team members in these skills.

·         Must be detail oriented and have a knack for probing for information, in order to fully understand the underlying needs that influence how a system should be configured/ organized.

·         Ability to manage and prioritize multiple and competing tasks, appropriately delegate and track work, and hold individuals accountable for work tasks.

·         Ability to work effectively as a team player and work with people of all backgrounds, at all levels.

·         Effective leadership skills and strong customer service orientation.

Required Knowledge and Experience

·         Bachelor’s Degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.

·         Demonstrated proficiency with information systems technology, which also includes Microsoft Office Suite, email, intranet, internet, and other systems.

·         Epic Certification: EpicCare, ClinDoc or Clinical Content required; additional certifications desired: Order Transmittal, SmartForms,

·         Must possess strong technical experience and background working with Epic.

·         Experience leading large and complex projects.

·         Experience mentoring staff in both technical and business related matters, including providing regular feedback and completing performance reviews.

·         Demonstrated skill in system workflow and business process flow analysis and design.

·         3-5+ years of experience in a healthcare related organization.

·         Management or Team Lead experience required.
