Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC) is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) located in downtown/central Los Angeles. In 2025, LATTC will boast a 100-year tradition as a leader in transfer and career-technical education, designed to prepare students for university studies and the workforce. A Guided Pathway framework guides the College’s emphasis on student access, success, and equity.
LATTC seeks a leader with the experience and commitment to transfer and workforce to continue our college’s dedication to Pathways to Academic, Career, and Transfer Success. Under the direction of the President, the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) is the Chief Instructional Officer and will champion an instructional division comprised of nine pathways, over 100 programs of study, and serving over 25,000 students annually. The VPAA will lead curriculum, planning, scheduling, program review, online learning, assessment of student outcomes for all instruction, and may serve as the Accreditation Liaison Officer. The VPAA will join and fully participate as a strategic partner with a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative leadership team.
The VPAA oversees all instructional pathways, which currently include: Advanced Transportation and Manufacturing; Applied Sciences; Construction, Maintenance and Utilities; Design and Media Arts; Health and Related Sciences; Liberal Arts and Transfer Prep; Business & Civic Engagement; Cosmetology; Culinary Arts; along with all college Library operations, Dual Enrollment, Apprenticeships, Academic Support Services, and Online Learning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university; and
- Completion of one year of full-time formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment; and
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff, and students.
DESIRABLE QUALITIES

- Five years of combined full-time experience planning, teaching, and/or administering Career Technical Education (CTE) programs.
- Experience with grants.
- Ability to analyze data and make data informed decisions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic, innovative leadership in the planning, implementation, assessment, and improvement of academic programs and related services.
- Using a shared equity leadership framework, lead the implementation of the strategic planning goals for Academic Affairs, including program review, organizational structure, budget planning, program improvement, facilities infrastructure, and quality improvement while incorporating the strategic planning themes of technology, cultural diversity, inclusivity, and overall campus relations.
- Provide leadership and direction to Academic Deans and staff, developing student-centered equity-minded teams and ensure appropriate standards of operation in the delivery of academic courses, programs, and related academic support services.
- Oversee the curriculum process collaboratively, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
- Coordinate and oversee the development and administration of the instructional budget. Direct enrollment management; analyze and report on student enrollment, retention, persistence, and goal attainment.
- Supervise the development and timely publication of the college catalog and schedule, ensuring that all pertinent information dealing with state and college regulations, district policies, and revisions approved by the Curriculum Committee and the Educational Policies Committee are current and accurately presented.
- Manage data collection and analysis for the effective planning of instructional programs and facilities; collaborate with Institutional Effectiveness and Data Researchers.
- Prepare annual reports required by state and federal agencies, respond to surveys from various sources dealing with professional and institutional issues, and collect statistics as needed.
- Ensure compliance with District negotiated agreements, including but not limited to, monitoring the status of scheduling timelines, mandatory roster submissions, faculty loads, enrollment minimums, evaluation procedures, and grievances.
- Supervise an effective onboarding process and in-service education program for new faculty and staff.
- Pursue opportunities to secure grants, provide oversight of categorical and special funding, and develop resources in cooperation with the LATTC Executive Team.
- Strengthen industry engagement and partnerships in LATTC's Community.
- Promote and facilitate a program of professional development for academic, administrative, and classified personnel within the division.
- Lead, participate in, and/or attend institutional functions related to the instructional program, such as convocations, student performances, and other related events. Participate in appropriate professional and community organizations.
- Participate in the governance of the college through service on campus and district committees. Support the President in their duty to represent the college to its governing Board by attending regular Board of Trustee meetings; represents the college to the Board of Trustees in the President's absence. Represent the college in the capacity of Vice President of Academic Affairs at other schools, professional meetings, and public functions.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The current salary range is $198,518 - $245,929. The selected candidate will be allocated within the salary range commensurate with educational preparation and related work experience qualifications. The doctoral differential is $5,943 per year. An excellent benefits package, including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance, is available for the employee and eligible dependents.
