The Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant has clinical, procedural, administrative and educational responsibilities in the care of adult patients requiring cardiac and thoracic surgery. Under the supervision of the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Heart & Vascular Director of Advanced Practice Nursing, the Cardiothoracic Surgery PA will have a critical role in the inpatient setting, with both team member and individual duties. Responsibilities will include preoperative and postoperative patient examination and assessment, diagnosis and planning; treatment implementation, coordination and continuity; performance of specific procedures; development of practice protocols and evaluation of quality of care; education of patients, families and other health care practitioners.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Endoscopic radial artery harvest experience at a high volume center
Physician Assistant:
Minimum one (1) years related adult Cardiothoracic/Cardiovascular patient care experience as a Physician Assistant and/or minimum 1 years of adult ICU experience as a Physician Assistant in a Cardiothoracic ICU/Coronary Care Unit/Cardiovascular ICU setting.
Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position.
Sr. Physician Assistant:
Specific training and experience related to Cardiothoracic/Cardiovascular patient care as a Physician Assistant, minimum of 5 years of which 3 are in the most recent years.
