Job DescriptionPay Range: $82,475 to $103,100 per year.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Chemistry Lab Manager is responsible for supporting the regulatory and production chemical analytical requirements within the Quality Assurance, Live Production (turkey and chicken), Hatchery, Nutrition Department, Veterinary Services, Feedmill, R&D, Plant Operations, and Commodities business units. They are expected to guide and direct chemists and technicians to meet departmental and corporate goals to maintain business continuity with supplier and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assess and prioritize the requests for analytical chemistry tests.
- Responsible for maintaining the optimal functioning a state-of-the-art analytical chemistry lab. The lab equipment and methodologies must meet or exceed the needs of customers, while being performed at a more cost-effective means compared to third party labs.
- Pursue new accreditation as needed/requested and maintain current accreditation programs that will enhance the reliability of the lab to regulatory agencies and its customers.
- Provide technical assistance to QC, R&D, Nutrition/Veterinary Services, Live Production, Operations, Hatchery, Feedmill, and Commodity groups.
- Maintain and improve quality control and personal safety programs.
- Directly supervise a team of chemists and technicians including the hiring and training technical personnel.
- Maintain costs within budgetary requirements including supplies, testing costs, and labor.
Qualifications- BS in Chemistry or related field, preferably poultry or meat related.
- Must have 3-5 years supervisory experience, preferably within a laboratory related setting.
- Extensive knowledge of analytical chemistry equipment and methodologies used for poultry and poultry-related products.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Computer literate in word processing and spreadsheets.
