The W.M. Keck Biomedical Mass Spectrometry Lab – a part of the Biomolecular Analysis Facility Core at the University of Virginia – seeks a Senior Scientist to expand our work in the areas of proteomics and metabolomics using state-of-the-art instruments to support research within the institution in areas such as basic research, the Cancer Center, and the Microbiome Initiative. This position requires expertise and hands-on experience in biomedical science. The candidate should have documented expertise in mass spectrometry and chromatography as well as protein and small molecule chemistry. You will support the director through sample preparation, operation/maintenance of advanced mass spectrometers (Orbitrap ID-X and Orbitrap Exploris 480), and data analysis using advanced software packages (Proteome Discoverer, Compound Discoverer, Scaffold, etc). This work will advance institutional goals in proteomic and metabolomic profiling and translational research.
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of excellent communication and team support. You should be highly motivated and able to work independently when designing and executing experiments.
