MCD is seeking a Senior Associate Director of Donor Relations to manage Stanford University Medical Center Development’s Principal Donor Stewardship Program, designed to communicate with the organization’s most engaged philanthropic investors who are capable of making gifts of $10M or more. Working closely with the Principal Gifts team, and under the supervision of the Director of Donor Relations, you will create and implement comprehensive, and high impact stewardship plans, writing highly customized reports, letters, and other communications. Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations for MCD, you will be a member of the manager group for the donor relations team and will contribute to the overall stewardship vision and strategy, while ensuring effective project management and efficient processes.
Your job responsibilities include:
Strategy
Is the primary relationship manager for the Principal Gifts team and acts as the liaison between this team and the MCD donor relations team
Has primary responsibility for defining, coordinating, and executing on the Principal Gifts stewardship strategy in adherence to the university's stewardship standards, and with a full understanding of the overall donor strategy and implementation of the gifts.
On a regular and on-going basis, meet with Principal Gifts team members to discuss and strategize stewardship opportunities.
Work with the Director of Donor Relations for Medical Center Development on the advance planning of new gift opportunities for principal donors.
Project Management
Develop and implement programs that provide comprehensive, high impact reporting to Stanford Medicine’s most significant donors.
Proactively monitor and manage the stewardship needs of donors. Build a complete understanding of each donor's involvement and giving activity.
Collaborate with key personnel to source information needed for reporting and stewardship requirements related to donor gifts
Execute fiduciary responsibility to ensure that gifts are awarded and utilized in accordance with donor expectations and university policy in a timely manner. Resolve discrepancies and escalate when needed. Oversee gift implementation and financial administration of principal-level gifts, including analysis, reporting, and program development.
Coordinate with staff and development officers to develop and produce key, multidimensional stewardship deliverables, including written (hard copy, email or online content), video, or events.
Manage the reporting and data needs for stewardship of principal gifts donors, including the running of financial reports
Curate project-related data and documents in donor database to ensure accuracy and timeliness
Writing
Research, draft, edit, and finalize acknowledgment letters and other stewardship correspondence for principal gift donors; collaborate with giving officers to ensure that the letters are appropriately customized and sent to donors in a timely manner while meeting the university's stewardship standards.
Research, write and edit reports and other stewardship collateral for principal gift donors, coordinating with colleagues, faculty, and leadership to create personal and accurate communications.
Research, write and edit other donor communications, as needed.
General
Actively share in donor relations team work, including strategic goal setting, workgroups, and other responsibilities
Maintain open channels of communication with stewardship colleagues across the university
Assist in setting priorities for stewardship team(s) and contribute to their overall effectiveness
Participate in special projects and coordinate with central stewardship as needed.
Develop knowledge of Stanford Medicine, as well as an understanding of how stewardship relates to the work of Stanford Medicine
Develop fluency with stewardship standards

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Ability to understand and articulate how stewardship supports and advances the broader fundraising agenda.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Strong client service orientation and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills, and professionalism to interact with a wide range of people at different levels of an organization.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to edit high-level correspondence.
Demonstrated experience leading project teams.
Proven ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple priorities, with competing deadlines.
Must be able to find and interpret relevant information.
Demonstrated sound judgment in situations requiring independent decision-making and in handling confidential and sensitive material.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, stand/walk, sit, use a telephone.
Occasionally light/fine grasping, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, writing by hand.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Non-commercial Class Driver's license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
May require working flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

The expected pay range for this position is $122,000 to $162,000 per annum.
