Job Summary
This position serves under the direction of the Director of Special Education, or designee, works with students who require Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies such as Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and/or Social Skills Training (SST):
• Provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies.
• Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward students.
• Work successfully with students with severe developmental delays and/or behavior challenges including verbal and physical aggression.
• Observe and manage behavior of students according to approved procedures.
• Apply principles of reinforcement.
• Work cooperatively with certificated and classified staff, students, parents, and administrators.
• Work independently with little direction.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Operate a variety of office and instructional equipment including a computer and assigned software.
• Collect data.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and school information.
• Learn the procedures, functions and limitations of assigned duties.
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Observe health and safety regulations.
• Administer First Aid.
• Implement all NCPI (Non-Violent Crises Prevention and Intervention) procedures to maintain safety of student, self and others.
Requirements / Qualifications
-GED or High School Diploma
-Associates degree (or higher) from an accredited institution of higher learning,
or 48 semester transferable units
or successfully completed a District approved test (e.g. CODESP)
-Verification of High School diploma/G.E.D is required if Associates degree (or higher) is not submitted
-Complete District’s specialized training in the area of autism/applied behavior analysis or documentation of equivalent training.
-Minimum of 10 hours of supervision by a behavior specialist, school psychologist, or other appropriate personnel.
-May require valid California Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance
-Valid First Aid Certificate

The written test will be given on an AS NEEDED basis (picture ID required). Late arrivals will not be admitted for testing. No cell phones, no calculator.
