Job Summary: The Executive Director of Technology will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the technology strategy of our organization. This leadership position requires a seasoned technology executive who can provide direction, innovation, and oversight to ensure the successful development and deployment of cutting-edge technology solutions that align with the district's objectives and education initiatives.
Requirements and Qualifications
Master's degree in computer science is preferred; Bachelor's required.
Proven experience (typically 10+ years) in senior technology leadership roles.
Proven experience managing and providing maintenance for core technology infrastructure.
Strong track record of developing and executing technology strategies that drive innovation in the classroom and management of education back office operations.
In-depth knowledge of current technology trends, including but not limited to cloud computing, AI, data analytics, and cybersecurity.
Exceptional leadership and team-building skills with a focus on talent development and retention.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
Demonstrated ability to manage an SIS sytem and a strong understanding of supporting databases and feature development of the SIS platform.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cybersecurity, Networking, Administrator's Certificate) are a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Technology Leadeship: Develop and communicate a clear technology vision and strategy that supports the district's overall education goals and objectives.
Technology Innovation: Stay current with education industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential to enhance the education capabilities of the district and recommending their adoption as appropriate.
Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing technology team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Technology Coordination: Works across the technology organization and senior level district leaders to singularly represent and lead the careful and responsible management of technology.
Communication: Creates communication, collaboration and coordination processes that assure all staff are timely and effectively informed of department policies, issues, and guidance that their programs are expected to support.
Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of all technology projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget, and that they meet quality standards.
Security and Compliance: Establish and maintain robust cybersecurity measures and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards, safeguarding the organization's data and technology assets.
Vendor and Resource Management: Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and make informed decisions regarding the acquisition of technology resources and services.
Service Management: Oversee all technology services and their delivery to the district to ensure quality and efficiency standards are constantly evaluated and that any issues are being addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
Budget Management: Develop and manage the overall technology budget, allocating resources effectively to maximize fiscal efficiency that aligns with the district's financial goals.
Documentation: Develop and document technology processes and services to support the long-term goals and delivery of technology services to the district.
Digital Data Management: Oversee protection and management of district's digital data as required by FERPA, HIPAA, and other digital record retainment regulations while ensuring its accuracy and consistency.
Performance Reviews: Reviews technology management performance of reporting staff to this position per HR's requirements.
