Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of sub-professional, technical, administrative and professional work for a department; assume significant functional responsibilities directly related to the department assigned; conducts special surveys, studies, and analysis, and performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
Respond to employee and public inquiries and complaints; resolve problems or provide required information.
Prepare, process and perform administrative support duties related to assigned department.
Assist in the coordination of departmental activities with other City departments, divisions, and with outside agencies.
Provide basic research assistance to the department assigned.
Conduct surveys and statistical analysis on department fiscal and operational issues; gather, tabulate and report related data; write reports.
Write, prepare, and assist in preparation of manuals, reports, publications, and handbooks.
Conduct field interviews and analyze information.
Independently compose letters and answer correspondence related to functional responsibilities.
Represent the City and/or department in the community and at professional meetings.
May supervise clerical personnel.
Typical Qualifications
Required Knowledge:
Knowledge of research methods procedures and analysis; applicable Federal, State and City laws, rules, and regulations. Ability to operate a variety of office machines including a computer.
Education:
Associate of Arts Degree or equivalent or specialized course work in related field to which assigned.
Experience:
Three years of experience dealing with the public; gathering data, compiling administrative documentation, and writing reports. Municipal experience desirable.
Physical Requirements:
This position also requires extensive and repetitive physical activity involving the arms, wrists, and hands, including writing and using a keyboard.It also requires physical abilities associated with the ability to read, write and communicate in a work environment requiring no extraordinary physical strength or other special physical qualifications.
