JOB TITLE: Accounting Technician
The job of "Accounting Technician" is done for the purpose of providing, under supervision, support to accounting functions; complying with district financial obligations; providing financial information/instructions and/or support to other personnel; ensuring that District revenue and expenditures are within budget and allocated accordingly; and providing financial services and processing assigned financial functions on a timely basis.
Essential Job Functions:
* Informs personnel and/or vendors, and/or community regarding required documentation and/or procedures for the purpose of conveying information necessary to complete transactions.
* Maintains various fiscal information, files and records (e.g. accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, contracts, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
* Prepares documentation (e.g. invoices, correspondence, reports, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support, conveying information and/or complying with fiscal requirements.
* Processes various fiscal information (e.g. payroll, attendance, special project allocations, bus passes, etc.) for the purpose of updating information and/or authorizing final action in compliance with accounting requirements.
* Reconciles account balances (e.g. bank statements, cash receipts, school accounts, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and complying with related policies, practices and/or regulations.
* Researches discrepancies of financial information and/or documentation (e.g. purchase orders, invoices, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing for action.
* Monitors fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, related revenues are generated, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
* Prepares cash deposits for the purpose of making bank deposits.
Other Job Functions:
* Participates in various activities (e.g. meetings, training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information.
Job Requirements - Qualifications:
* Experience Required:
Prior job related experience.
* Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
Skill to operate standard office equipment including use of word processing applications, use English in both written and verbal form, use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation, perform complex calculations.
Knowledge of standard accounting requirements, appropriate laws, codes and regulations.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods, work accurately, with attention to detail and with minimal supervision, understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near visual acuity.
* Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, Health Physical Clearance, Tuberculosis Testing/Clearance.
