Job Title: Hands On Tool Room Supervisor Location: Wadsworth, OH Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with some flexibility. Kelly has partnered with a premiere company in Wadsworth, OH and seeking a dedicated and experienced Tool Room Supervisor to lead their department.
This key role involves overseeing the design, programming, setup, and operation of Tool Room equipment while ensuring production demand objectives are met.
The Supervisor serves as a crucial liaison between the Engineering/Drafting departments and the Engineering Tool Room/Production.
Requirements:
Industrial degree, Tool and Die journey/apprenticeship experience, or equivalent work experience with competency training and certificates preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of tool and die leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
At least 3 years of previous supervision experience in a manufacturing setting.
Technical experience with grinding, turning, milling, and lathe machines.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Draftsight, Solidworks, and/or Autodesk Fusion 360.
CNC programming, drafting design, or print-to-production experience.
Thorough understanding of measurements/tolerances, machine operation, and maintenance.
Participation in training programs, both existing and future or department-specific.
Responsibilities:
Direct the activities of the Tool Room, overseeing personnel, machines, components, dies, purchasing (both asset and MRO), and more.
Act as an intermediary between engineering/drafting, tool room, and production for efficient problem resolution and continuity of application.
Enhance CAD/CAM machining programs to align with Design and Engineering Department objectives.
Manage die design and associated project management tasks.
Integrate Company-specific processes/capabilities into daily activities focusing on Engineering-driven Tool Room and Pressroom Productivity.
Develop and update 3D modeling and CAM software skills.
Prepare and publish a Tool Room Supervisor report including metrics.
Focus on equipment and process optimization.
Design and standardize machining processes for general dies, form dies, retainer dies, tooling, etc.
Undertake reverse engineering where applicable.
Coordinate with the Pressroom supervisor on quick die change and maintenance improvement ideas.
Provide input on future purchases of machining equipment, tooling, and fixtures.
Train Tool Room personnel in the set-up and operation of tool room equipment, and occasionally operate manual Tool Room machines.
Accept additional tasks/responsibilities as assigned by the Product Engineer/Operations Manager.
Coordinate Tool Room training, including CNC, Tool and Die and Die Making Apprenticeship program, general upskilling, and in-house cross-training.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk, navigate stairs, use PPE, and follow all safety standards.
Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to regularly lift 10 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs with or without accommodation.
Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
Must attend workshops as needed to remain aware of current trends.
