Sanctuary for Families is New York’s leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence. Every year, Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive range of services. We provide a range of wrap-around services to help survivors rebuild their lives in the aftermath of abuse, and work to end gender violence through three key strategies: direct services, outreach and training, and systems-change advocacy. Our services are available in 12 locations throughout New York City.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Supervisor of Children and Family Services manages the staff and activities of childcare services at Sarah Burke House and collaborates with the Children and Family Services Director to set the tone for the department consistent with the mission and goals of Sanctuary for Families.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee children’s services within a domestic violence shelter, including children’s programs, parent support groups, and educational workshops
- Manage hiring, training, professional development, and evaluation of children services staff
- Provide weekly supervision to the children’s services staff and facilitate team meetings
- Facilitate staff trainings to ensure ongoing learning and best practices
- Works alongside Program Coordinator to develop, implement and facilitate workshop, trainings and parent support groups
- Monitor and assess children’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual development through ASQ-3 and other assessment tools
- Coordinate with external supportive services, including the DOE, early intervention services, community-based organizations and social services providers
- Provide advocacy and support through IEP and Early Intervention application process
- Complete referrals to community agencies and outside service providers on behalf of children and families
- Maintain clinical documentation through Salesforce; compile and report statistics as needed for programmatic audits
- Manage inventory, ordering, and organization of childcare program supplies
- Provide supportive counseling as needed to parents of childcare clients
- Performs any other department or agency-related duties or special projects as directed by supervisor
- BA required; Masters in early education or social work preferred
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience working in an educational setting with children and families required.
- Spanish preferred
Budgeted Salary: $63,000 - $67,000 annually
Work position is Full-time/35hr/wk - Salaried/Exempt
Work schedule is currently in-person; must be able to meet job location schedule obligations
