As a member of a public works maintenance crew, loads and unloads heavy materials or equipment from trucks; digs and fills holes, trenches, and ditches; maintains and repairs streets; operates automatic and manual digging tools; operates motorized equipment such as trucks and skiploaders or other power equipment of comparable size and complexity; services and lubricates motorized equipment; cleans hand tools and work areas; diverts traffic using flags and barricades; cuts down weeds in vacant lots.
As a member of a park maintenance crew, maintains grounds, medians and outdoor landscaped areas including planting, cultivating, trimming, watering and spraying plants, trees, and grass; operates various park maintenance equipment such as sprayers and mowers; makes minor repairs to irrigation systems; diverts traffic using street cones to gain access to medians.
As a member of a building maintenance crew, maintains facilities and buildings including cleaning rugs, walls, floors, rest rooms, and office spaces; performs building repairs and construction work; works irregular shifts as required.
As a member of the Carson Community Center Setup/Custodial crew, maintain facilities including cleaning carpets, walls, floors, restrooms and office spaces. Dust and polish furniture, woodwork and fixtures, vacuum carpets. Order and maintain adequate supplies and equipment. Prepare work schedules and provide work direction and guidance to Maintenance Aides to insure timely completion of all setups and tear downs of Community Center events. Inspect custodial and setup work to assure standards of performance and safety are maintained. Operate a variety of equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, carpet extractors, air lifts, etc. Train Maintenance Aides in safe and proper handling methods. Maintain related records and files. Assist in selection of prospective personnel. Perform related duties as assigned.
