Job Description Summary
The Graduate Assistant assists with development and coordination of residential and first year experience programs. Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Residential Life and First year Experience the primary duty of the RLFYE Graduate Assistant is to provide, administrative support, data collection and assessment in support of the RLFYE Strategic Plan to improve student persistence, engagement and eliminate opportunity gap for underrepresented students. This role continues into summer 2025.
Responsibilities
Residential Support
Conduct meetings with campus partners as needed
Assist with contract review, risk management assessment, event and facility scheduling, and financial procedures
Assist in the resolution of student and parent concerns
Co-facilitating student learning and departmental programmatic efforts.
Serving as conduct officer to adjudicate student conduct cases within University Housing.
Support departmental priorities such as openings, closings, orientation, training, and Preview Day.
Meet with High Priority Students to provide support, guidance and referrals if applicable to the appropriate on campus resources
Administer, collect, and review assessment data and create summaries of findings
Maintain detailed files and records
Assumed additional duties as assigned.
Administrative /Miscellaneous
Participates in weekly Residence Life staff meeting and individual meetings with supervisor
Participates in once-per-semester Student Affairs Division meetings
Maintains regular office hours each week
Completes semester and year end reports as requested by departmental leadership
Assists with department evaluation
Participates in Senior Staff training and development as required
Stays informed of student development theory, trends, and research to inform professional practice
Required Qualifications
Enrollment in a Master’s Program at Chapman University.
Desired Qualifications
Enrollment in the College of Educational Studies’ Masters in Leadership Development, Higher Education track cohort. Previous work involving staff supervision and/or academic programming/initiative support desired Previous work in a Residential Life setting
