Job Overview
The Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development (GUCCHD) is dedicated to fostering a stronger society by promoting the wellbeing of ALL children, adults and families and creating more inclusive communities. We execute this mission through research, training & technical assistance, scholarship and thought leadership. Through the National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC), the GUCCHD has been awarded a contract with the NY Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (NY OPWDD). The project is designed to advance policies and practices of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI), and Cultural and Linguistic Competence in all components of the intellectual disability and developmental disability (ID/DD) system of New York State.
This complex, multifaceted project is conducted statewide - and provides technical assistance, consultation, professional development and training, and community engagement over a three-year period.
The Project Assistant interfaces with (1) persons with the lived experience of ID/DD and their families across diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic, and other identify groups that reside in the state, (2) New York State government employees; (3) ID/DD provider network in the state, and (4) other key stakeholders and organizations.
They provide program support to a team of 20 people in duties that include but are not limited to:
- Provides an array of administrative, and secretarial tasks, technical support associated with multimedia instruction, formatting and finalizing training and teaching materials, scheduling for team meetings, trainings and focus groups, and the preparation of reports and other required deliverables for the project
- Provides limited administrative and secretarial responsibilities for logistics and coordination of conferences and training events specifically related to other CCHD projects and centers
- Serves as the first point of contact for the project
Work Interactions
Reporting programmatically to the Project Administrator, the Project Assistant works collaboratively with other members of the team, and - based on assignment - may report to other team leads. Further, they interact with the Principal Investigator, the Co-Principal Investigator, and the Project Director, other project team members, and GUCCHD administration; and represent the project and Center with internal and external partners on a regular basis.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 to 4 years of progressive administrative experience
- Proficiency with MS Office
- Basic mathematical skills
- Strong written, oral communication and research skills
- Ability to multi-task and good organizational skills
- Ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks
- Knowledgeable about ensuring 508 compliance for documents
- Experience with organizing events or meetings
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with a variety of individuals, to include persons with Developmental or Intellectual Disabilities
