Maag is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our team and help manage our organization’s procurement needs. Supply chain management is critical in fueling our growth while maintaining and protecting the quality and stability of our manufacturing and production materials as well as our finished products. Through strategic sourcing, effective contract management, and supportive vendor relationships, this role will ensure business continuity in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate is skilled in negotiation and cost management.
Position description - Tasks, responsibilities, competencies
- Develop and execute category strategies for assigned categories, aligning with business objectives
- Process purchase requisitions from our internal ERP system, Spare Part associates, and items that support maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO).
- Regularly maintain relevant data within the ERP and document management systems.
- Maintain and update purchase order status on a regular basis and communicate that status with the relevant associates.
- Negotiate agreements and supply contracts to secure lowest cost and shortest delivery.
- Coordinate with shipping agencies and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and oversee the integrity and quality of delivered goods.
- Perform periodic site visits and supplier risk assessments to ensure new potential suppliers are viable and existing suppliers remain viable partners.
- Regularly prepare reports on Key Performance Indicators and other relevant analysis.
- Collaborate with internal departments on relevant projects such as cost savings and inventory optimization.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned by manager.

Work environment
Work in this position is in an office/cubicle type of environment. There are times when the associate will be required to make visits to the shop floor. When these times arise PPE will be required.

Education
Mandatory
- A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
- (Candidates with a high school diploma and 7+ years of relevant experience will also be considered)
Desirable
- Additional education or relevant professional certifications such as CPIM or CSCP is a plus
Professional experience
Mandatory
- Minimum 3-year experience in a purchasing role or similar position with sound knowledge of supply chain procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and with business application software, purchasing and resource planning systems.
Desirable
- 3-to-5-year purchasing experience with strong knowledge of purchasing processes and procedures
- Work experience in an OEM or other manufacturing environment
- Experience managing spend categories (i.e. Fabrications, Machining, Metals, Electronics, MRO)
- SAP Experience is a plus
