JOB OVERVIEW:
The School Climate Manager is responsible for implementing interventions that develop a positive, safe, and orderly environment for the students and staff. This position ensures that processes are efficient and followed with fidelity to Safe Schools initiatives, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), de-escalation and school safety programs, and crisis management protocol (Safe Care Management). Additionally, the School Climate Manager is responsible for data collection, analysis, and coaching of PBIS strategies and reporting on all parties’ infractions of the school’s Code of Conduct. This position reports to the Dean of Students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement school safety initiatives and protocols including but not limited to school safety, evacuation, fire drills, emergency drills, facilities safety, staff training, and other programs in conjunction with local law enforcement. Provide efficiency reports for the Administrative Team.
Manage the operational aspects of the school PBIS program. Implement protocols in the school PBIS handbook, enforce the school Code of Conduct to reflect PBIS language and expectations, facilitate and model school-wide expectations and rewards for meaningful incentives and consequences, and manage all student contracts for all activities.
Attend and facilitate all tier-level PBIS data problem-solving meetings, ensure data collection is prepared for analysis, and monitor student progress at each level of the intervention system.
Ensure the smooth operation of the school store and special events.
Assist the Dean of Students with the operational aspects of student discipline issues.
Manage the operational aspects of the school’s transportation including safe arrival and dismissal procedures. Collect incident information on school district transportation. prepares reports and advises administration. Maintain exceptional relationships with transportation companies, transportation staff, and parents. Be physically present on school grounds to ensure that students are safely transported home after dismissal, including when transportation issues arise.
Provide support to the school community to maintain an orderly school environment. Provide mobile support to students in crisis or students demonstrating non-compliant behavior. Model and support positive intervention strategies. Reintegrate students back into the program.
Supervise the environment for safe and orderly conduct at arrival and dismissal, lunchroom, recess, assemblies, and other activities.
Provide de-escalation protocol training for all school employees.
Assist with budget preparation as directed.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Monitor the efficiency of school-wide safety protocols. Provide efficiency reports as assigned.
Manage the operational aspects of all transportation issues, collect student incident reports, and communicate with administration, staff, parents, and transportation companies. Prepare reports.
Implement all operational aspects of the PBIS program. Model a positive climate, create incident reports, monitor student incident data and prepare data reports for weekly problem-solving meetings, and ensure school-wide expectations are implemented. Participate in the continuous development of the PBIS program
Design and facilitate PBIS lessons. Use behavioral data to collaborate with the clinical team to design and facilitate self-regulation and self-care strategies groups.
Actively monitor classrooms and model PBIS expectations.
Assist the Dean of Students by conducting regular school culture walkthroughs (DCOTs) to measure the fidelity of the staff’s PBIS implementation procedures.
Serve as a coach for PBIS classroom observations and feedback from DCOTs.
Manage the environment by ensuring all staff are actively engaged in the supervision of lunchroom, arrival, dismissal, and transition activities. Report staff absences to the Dean of Students.
Assist the Dean of Students with enforcing the Student Code of Conduct in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures.
Notify the Local Education Agency (LEA) of Emergency Personal Safety Intervention (EPSI) and ensure RISK reports are complete.
Ensure EPSI protocol is complete and ensure administrative debriefings, relationship repair, and staff training as needed.
Serve as an interventionist by ensuring students make amends for their actions. Coach and supervise student activities with therapeutic strategies.
Facilitate, model, and document all R2R procedures with students, then coach educational staff with students’ coping strategies.
Serve as a SCM Trainer and provide SCM instruction at mandated professional development sessions.
Perform related duties, special assignments, and projects as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in applied behavior analysis (ABA), education, social services, behavioral health, criminal justice, psychology, education, or a related field
Three years of experience working with youth in a field such as mental and/or behavioral health, juvenile justice, alternative education, or another related field involving at-risk children, youth, or young adults
Experience working with a special needs population in a school setting and/or mental health organization
Understanding of emotional and behavioral disorders, mental health issues, autism, developmental delays, and intellectual disabilities
Preferred: Experience facilitating lessons or groups
SALARY GRADE: 18
