Ferguson is currently seeking a Fabrication Manager that manages a team with focus on policy and strategy implementation.
As a Fabrication Manager you will be responsible for managing 15-20 associates in a $20 Million dollar branch, ensuring a safe environment, scheduling work, meeting production expectations, managing and/or performing equipment repair and maintenance, managing workflow for the fabrication department, training and managing quality standards, setting expectations for safety, quality, and productivity.
Establishes operational plans with measurable contribution towards the achievement of results of the job function. Focus is on short to mid-term operational plans (e.g., 1 to 2 years). Provides measurable input to new products, processes or standards in operational plans that will have some impact on the achievement of overall function results.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize workflow through the shop and use all resources to implement tasks efficiently and effectively to meet delivery deadlines.
- Handle all scheduling and/or final assembly scheduling activities in a fabrication facility.
- Handle coordinating and supervising employees who set up and operate standard machine tools and attachments for various processing operations in the production of parts, assemblies, and complete units.
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working condition and meet calibration specifications.
- Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
- Responsible for performance metrics, process improvement, and lean thinking.
- May be responsible for any of the following activities: maintenance, manufacturing, quality control, engineering, supply and logistics, distribution, accounting, IT, and administration.
- Perform test to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.
- Develop complex operation sequences and provides recommendations for improving efficiency and processes.
- Maintain production records, reports, and analyzes production data.
- Participate in leadership meetings and represent associate concerns, policies and guidelines to the management team.
- Conduct regular associate meetings and daily toolbox talk meetings
- Represent the organization to customers, associates and leadership as needed.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of direct supervisory/management experience as a job site foreman, fab shop supervisor, or project manager preferred
- 2 years minimum experience in the mechanical contracting or process piping industry
- Ability to perform multi-pass, all position fillet and butt welds using SWAW, GMAW, and FCAW
- Shown understanding of welding codes: AWS, ASME, MIL-STD, AISC, & ABS
- Expertise in welding power sources, wire feeders, welding consumables
- Knowledge of welding techniques, (oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, and TIG).
- Hands on experiences and training on pre and post heating, Surface hardening, and Weld Inspections
- Ability to read prints and illustrate detailed knowledge of pipe fitting procedures and skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with individual contributors, teams, peers, and leadership

- Requires getting into positions such as kneeling, crouching, stooping or crawling.
- Requires working in conditions that are not environment-controlled.

- Requires wearing personal protective equipment as required by safety risk assessments.
- Requires operating powered industrial trucks / equipment.
- Requires lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
