Job Abstract

Selectek is seeking a veteran Structural Engineer for a direct hire role with one of our partnering firms near Houston, Texas. This firm specializes in chemical plants and terminals, so candidates will need a background working with these types of projects.

Employment Type: Direct Hire
Location: Houston, TX
Expected Hourly Pay Range: $48-$72 before permanent conversion, based on experience and certifications

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- PE license in Texas or reciprocal state 
- 10-20 years of experience in structural engineering related to chemical or oil/gas products
- Strong background in equipment foundation and supports, pipe racks, and access platforms

In addition to these requirements, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as Selectek is unable to provide sponsorship or work visa documentation.

Job Duties:
- Serve as a discipline lead on projects, with the possibility of running multiple small projects simultaneously
- Perform technical designs and supervision of other designers
- Maintain budget control and project focus to avoid scope creep
- Help develop a standardization process for design within the structural teams
- Check structural packages and communicate markups to production staff
- Travel to sites around the state for inspection as needed; typically within 4 hours of Houston

Schedule: Monday – Friday with flexible hours. Monday – Thursday schedule consisting of ten-hour days is also possible, depending on candidate's preference.
