JOB SUMMARY: The Employment Case Manager engages shelter guests participating in the Work Bed Program onsite at the 801 East Collaborative. This position assists shelter guests in maintaining and increasing employment and income to obtain housing and successfully exit the shelter. The position creates employment goals in conjunction with the shelter guest to achieve their shelter exit, develop and builds partnerships with DC employment placement and certification vendors, potential employers, and specialized training programs and organizations in the District of Columbia. Conducts group training to build employment skills of guests. Carriers a rotating caseload and provides case management services to achieve a successful exit into housing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and oversee Work Bed participant caseload to increase income and self- sufficiency skills to obtain housing and exit the shelter.
Manage and oversee networking and relations with area employers and centers for employment training.
Provide case management services to program participants.
Conduct case management meetings and one-on-one onsite and in person at shelter b. Maintain a caseload of participants to enhance job readiness skills that will lead to employment or upgraded employment.
Maintain collaborative program efforts and meet bi-weekly with program case managers to review and coordinate services provided to shared shelter guests to ensure guest’s needs are addressed.
Perform administrative duties.
Track and update guests’ income in Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) monthly or when there is a reported change of income. Document outputs and outcome data to report to leadership monthly, quarterly, and annually.
Participate in workshops, training, and other meetings targeted toward job development, networking, and skill building.
Train and provide functional guidance to volunteers, as needed, to work on job development and other program assignments.
Participate in quality improvement and actively comply with quality improvement initiatives.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, human services, or related field.
If with a Social Work degree, Social Work licensure in the appropriate jurisdiction is required.
If with a Professional Counseling degree, Professional Counseling licensure in appropriate jurisdiction is required.
Two years’ experience working with at-risk clients in direct service, and exposure to connecting clients who have a history of homelessness to employment or employment services. In some cases, experience can be substituted with additional related certifications or a master’s degree in human services or a related field.
Driving is required. Must have a clean driving record and valid local driver’s license.
SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of Housing First principles and practices. Knowledge of employment hiring practices, training resources, interviewing and resume building skills.
Ability to operate job-related equipment including the use of basic computer programs, including but limited to MS Office 365 Apps and systems.
