Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Executive Chef - Retail Services.
Oversees all aspects of world-class food production, HACCP compliant food for patient and customer meal service, cafeterias and coffee bars. Assures compliance to DOH and TJC regulatory guidelines, labor, food and supply budgets. Serves as technical expert and trainer for other managers and staff. Implements NYU Langone mission values and standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees all aspects culinary planning and production for retail venues within the Manhattan Campus of NYU Langone Health, to include locations within the Superblock, and offsite venues.
- Collaborates with the culinary team to develop world class menus and recipes for retail locations, which are operationally efficient, on-trend, and health & wellness focused, and delicious.
- In coordination with the Retail Leadership Team, plans and develops, a retail specific QIA program. Executes and implements departmental QIA standards by ensuring quality food and service in all locations
- Adheres to and promotes the mission, vision and values of the Food and Nutrition Services Department and NYU Langone Health. Achieves a world class level of food and hospitality for our staff, patients, and guests
- Ensures a high level of employee engagement and satisfaction by facilitating a positive work environment, open lines of communication, and culture of excellence.
- Maintains sanitary, safe, and efficient operation in accordance with all regulatory bodies and department policies
- Participates in the development and management of the operating and capital budgets through appropriate review and supervision of resource utilization inclusive of the development and implementation of cost savings, revenue generation strategies to meet departmental /organizational goals.
- Directs daily operations of food production, including menu planning, purchasing, ordering, inventory and food preparation to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines.
- Ensures that kitchen, equipment, and storage facilities are neat, organized and compliant with NYU Langone, City, State, and Federal Regulations and Standards.
- Ensures that all HAACP, quality assurance, food handling, safety, operations, and personnel procedures and policies are compliant with NYU Langone, City, State and Federal regulations.
- Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback, and performance evaluations to employees and managers to reward, coach, correct and motivate.
- Monitors inventory, purchasing supplies and food from approved vendors.
- Hiring , Training, Coach Counseling and supervising non-union and union operated staff
- Ensures all NYU Langone recipes, and plate presentation are followed and adhered to on a daily basis in a timely manner.
- Maintain all staff schedules, job descriptions, job flows and assignments.
- Adheres to NYU Langone clinical & dietary food regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Degree in Culinary Arts with at least 5 years experience in managing large scale operation.
Servsafe Certified and Proficient in HAACP, food handling procedures and regulations.
Knowledge in Word, Excel, and Payroll Systems.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81,325.15 - $108,364.01 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
