Reports to: Elementary School Principal
Job Goal
To provide instrumental music lessons and classroom experiences to beginning strings students which foster an appreciation of music and nurture musical talents.
Performance Responsibilities:
Provide small group lessons to beginning orchestra students based on their skill level.
Conduct rehearsals for the school orchestras to prepare for performances.
Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that caters to the needs of all students.
Create a classroom atmosphere which inspires children’s innate love for music.
Organize, rehearse and direct concerts and other musical events that showcase students’ achievements.
Maintains the storage and use of school-owned property; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required
Communicates effectively with parents and school personnel on pupil progress and support student progress.
Participates in faculty, department and curriculum development programs and committees.
Maintains professional competence through a variety of activities including in-service education provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities related to music.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities of a certified professional as the Principal may assign from time to time
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be established by the Contract between the Weston Board of Education and the Weston Teachers Association.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education’s policy.
