SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Environmental Team Leader, assists in administering the systemwide indoor air quality (IAQ) program and fire code compliance programs. Responsibilities include managing complaint response, remote air monitoring data system, and relocatable classroom inspections & improvements. The nature of the work requires application of the principles and practices of all aspects of project management, industrial hygiene, fire code compliance, and other technical compliance areas. Work includes developing specifications, contract documents, implementation oversight, and clear communication to all stakeholders involved in the process. Serves as a office/division representative in a variety of meetings with government officials, school staff, school community and the community at large for the purpose of conveying and receiving information related to assigned projects and activities.
CERTIFICATE LICENSE:
Certified industrial hygienist (CIH) or certified hazardous materials manager (CHMM) or similar certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Considerable professional knowledge of, and skill in applying, the theories, concepts, principles, computer systems applications, and methodology for systemwide compliance projects. Knowledge of engineering and specialty methods, and regulatory requirements to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner and in full compliance with required quality standards. Considerable knowledge of project management, budget and cost estimations, resource and schedule planning. Considerable computer skills utilizing MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to read architectural plans and blueprints to evaluate compliance with applicable laws, codes and standards related to OSHA, NFPA, EPA and HVAC systems. Proven ability to resolve difficult issues and achieve goals within timelines; research and analyze data and present cohesive, supported recommendations related to the work; serve as a functional leader and oversee the work of staff; understand and provide budget input and effective fiscal monitoring for projects. Must be proficient in written and verbal communication with varied audiences; and must possess effective presentation skills.Skill, proficiency and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities typical to the job assignment and meet associated planned outcomes and timelines; and develop action plans. Knowledge of and ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree in physical or life sciences, engineering or a related field. Five years of increased responsibility in the administrative, technical and field experience in Architectural, Engineering and/or Environmental industry. Supervisory experience preferred.
