The Export Control Manager (ECM) - Engines is part of the global Export Control function and leads a global team of Export Control Officers (ECO) providing specialist Export Control and Sanctions knowledge, guidance, advice and oversight to the Engines Business Line. The ECM actively contributes to the development of Policies and Procedures to enhance business wide compliance. Where required the ECM will lead and support on broader GKN Aerospace activity within their region working closely with the Head of Export Control Compliance and other ECMs.
• Ensuring the implementation of the Export Control Policy, Procedures and Compliance Program within the Engines Business Line
• Leading the development, implementation and oversight of any Business Line level procedures, guidance, training and communication required to implement the export control Policy, Procedures and Compliance Program.
• Preparation of regional procedures, guidance, training and communication materials consistent with the export control Policy, Procedures and Compliance Program.
• Provision of subject matter expertise to the Engines Head of Export Control (HoEC), Head of Legal (HoL) and ECOs, and in conjunction with the HoEC advise on global initiatives across GKN Aerospace Engines.
• Contribute effectively and proactively to Business Line performance in an advisory and expert capacity on Export Control and Sanctions matters.
• Liaison with HoEC and other ECMs on GKN Aerospace-wide compliance matters and initiatives applying across GKN Aerospace Business Lines.
• Conducting periodic risk assessments on the status of export control compliance and the collation of Business Line compliance information and reporting to the HoL and HoEC.
• Leading investigations into export control non-compliance, providing oversight and tracking of reports and investigations, review and approval of draft disclosures and tracking closure of corrective actions across the Business Line.
• Responsible for Business Line-level communication with regulators, or communication with regulators in the ECM’s region, as appropriate depending on the relevant matter and as determined by the ECMs in consultation with each other.
• Ensuring that all necessary export control and sanctions authorizations are in place to support the activities of the Business Line and, where required, region.
• Lead the identification, training and development of the Export Control Facilitator (ECF) network in their Business Line.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 7+ years’ experience working either in or with the United States defense industry, with a particular emphasis in aerospace.
• 7+ years’ experience interfacing with State Department’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
• Must be a US Citizen per program requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in leading a team, particularly in organizations operating matrix structures and/or other situations in which organizational ambiguity may arise.
• Have a specialist knowledge of Export Control Regulations and Sanctions, in particular US, EU and UK regulations
• Experience in the classification of goods, software and technology in multiple Export Control regimes
• Possesses expert analytical skills and demonstrates risk and compliance awareness when supporting highly complex projects or advising on strategic decisions
• Provides regular feedback on performance and celebrates success
• Has the ability to work on own initiative to get things done, able to plan organize and prioritize workload, keeping colleagues informed and managing expectations. A completer/finisher who can demonstrate work/life balance

The salary range for this position is $150-175k, plus annual bonus
