Director—Public Sector (U.S. Federal, SLED, Key Global Jurisdictions)
Job Role & Responsibility
We are looking for a talented and experienced Public Sector attorney to join the EUC Legal Team. The individual selected will be a key part of the team supporting our global public sector business, serving as the lead legal advisor to the public sector sales and operations team. The individual selected will work closely with various internal stakeholders to help grow the business, while also managing and mitigating risks. The person selected will provide strategic advice and counsel across the global public sector landscape, ranging from sales questions related to government contracts to counseling on regulatory requirements (e.g., legislation, Executive Orders, and other public sector compliance requirements) and everything in between. The person will work with colleagues on the EUC Legal Team to understand key commercial and IP requirements, while also ensuring that contractual terms and EUC programs comply with corporate directives and government requirements. You will be asked to counsel on risk and devise creative and practical legal solutions to meet business needs. While initially this role will focus on the U.S. Public Sector business (both Federal and SLED), this role will also provide legal guidance and support in other key jurisdictions around the globe.
In addition, for national security-related work in the U.S., this person will have a leadership role with our Federal subsidiary focused on our National Security and Intelligence Community customers. The person selected will help us maintain our “cleared facility” status and manage our cleared contracts and business. Accordingly, the successful candidate will need to possess and be willing to maintain an active security clearance at the top-secret level.
Responsibilities
Develop a deep knowledge of EUC’s products and services and the responsible business unit’s objectives, strategies and challenges;
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including sales contracts, reseller agreements, and other sales supporting documents
Provide general advice on all legal matters related to public sector sales, in the U.S. and in other key jurisdictions, such as responding to solicitations, complying with changing legal requirements, and negotiating contracts;
Negotiate and/or support strategic deals for the public sector teams, as required;
Identify compliance requirements for the particular area of coverage and drive compliance with these requirements;
Counsel product teams on compliance, accreditation, and contract requirements related to software companies, including FedRAMP, CMMC, and the Cybersecurity Executive Order;
Lead and manage EUC’s Federal subsidiary, its “cleared facility” status and cleared work;
Advise on EUC’s collaborations with partners, distributors, resellers, systems integrators, and other channels;
Counsel on legal requirements related to catalog contracts;
Monitor legal trends and identifying compliance challenge and risks working with legal specialists to mitigate risk;
Communicate updates to legal colleagues (and providing training as necessary) and proactively informing the legal team on business unit initiatives that may be relevant to their practice areas;
Deliver training for the business unit on legal and technical topics; and
Identify opportunities to scale legal support as it relates to the business
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the bar association of at least one state or the District of Columbia
Proven track record at a major law firm or in-house with a multinational corporation, showing 10+ years handling complex government contracts matters and/or driving compliance initiatives, preferably in a technology-driven company.
Demonstrated deep knowledge of U.S. Federal and SLED procurement laws and regulations and sufficient familiarity with and understanding of public sector requirements in other key jurisdictions
An appropriate, active security clearance
Demonstrated understanding and experience working on contract, compliance, and accreditation matters in the software industry
Excellent negotiating, drafting, and influencing skills
Strong communication skills, both orally and in written work product
Background in or enthusiasm for procurement and learning technology.
Strong organizational and communication skills, time management skills, attention to detail and sense of urgency.
Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and interact with management level personnel.
Ability to think creatively, take ownership of tasks and adapt to changing business requirements.
High level of accountability and integrity.
Location - preference for D.C. Metro area. Open to US
