As Controls Department Manager, you will be counted on to grow the controls business through the sale of controls projects and services, and assume responsibility for the successful execution and redemption of projects.

- Redeems the annual booking plan for the Controls Operating Unit through the sale of projects and automatically renewable maintenance contracts via a subordinate account management force.
- Understands from a prospects perspective the costs associated with owning, operating, and maintaining a building, and reviews those costs with prospects in various markets.
- Hires, trains, coaches and mentors Controls Account Managers to achieve desired results.
- Develops annual operating plans, in conjunction with the Controls Area Service Manager and General Service Manager.
- Assumes responsibility for redeeming the annual operating plan for the Controls Group.
- Provides accurate and timely forecasts, as scheduled, for review by key stakeholders.
- Maintains the accuracy of all records, reports, logs and data required to operate the controls business.
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships with all fellow employees, prospects, customers, and vendors, and represents the Company in a very positive and professional manner.
- Assists others Company to obtain or retain business in offerings in other areas, as needed.
- Submits weekly reports to management, utilizing Company-provided tools and formats, which describe selling and booking activity for the week, as well as month and year-to-date.
- Understands customer organizations and relevant decision making processes to effectively participate in sales strategy development and presentations, and trains staff in the development and implementation of such sales strategies.
- Establishes escalation policies to ensure customer retention while maintaining profit objectives.
- Assists with ensuring that all customers pay their invoices on time, and personally follows up on all receivables past due over 90 days.
- Stays current on control system products, offerings, technology, and industry trends through training, participation in professional organizations, and available vendor resources.
- Work with owners and engineering firms to negotiate working directly for them on future projects.
- Actively participates in and champions Hearts & Minds safety culture of the Company.
- All other duties as assigned.
What You Need…
- 7+ years of related HVAC controls or related technical experience.
- Advanced knowledge of HVAC concepts and related software (AutoCAD, BIM).
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (written/verbal) skills.
- Capacity to function successfully when working independently or as part of a larger team.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

- College degree or equivalent course work.

Work Environment:
- This position operates primarily in a professional office environment, and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets.
- Work duties may occasionally necessitate walk-throughs of local job sites, during which the incumbent may utilize basic tools, and be intermittently exposed to the conditions typically associated with a construction site.
Physical Demands:
- In performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, walk, hear, and possess an appropriate degree of both visual acuity and manual dexterity.
- This is considered a light work position, which means possible exertion of up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to ten (10) pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
