About the Job ABOUT THE JOB: Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a CIS Specialist II. With minimal supervision, the successful candidate will perform a variety of deposit account verification and maintenance. Processes deposit account maintenance requested by branch personnel, which includes account type and name and address changes. Provides support to branch personnel, other employees in the CIS Group, other areas of Deposit Operations and other internal departments as needed. MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES: Review new and amended deposit account, CD and IRA signature cards, safe deposit box contracts, HSA agreements, and supporting documentation. Ensure accounts are opened in accordance with the established procedures. Sort the mail returned by the Post Office and forward to the proper department. Review the Deposit Operations returned mail to verify that the address has not already been changed and use alternative methods to locate correct address information for the client following established procedures. Review FIS and BIC reports and perform maintenance to the accounts and client information as needed following current procedures. Using the mass exchange function for maintenance, process certain tasks such as the Opt In and Out of E-Statements and adding mobile phone numbers and e-mail addresses to cardbase. Independently process name and address changes following established procedures. From Optima, print on letterhead the 7 and 14 day overdraft letters, RDI and Opt In Reg E letters. Prepare all documents received by the CIS group daily for scanning into the banks Optima system. Scanned documents are indexed and verified for accuracy and then committed to the archive. Verify savings bond redemption sheets generated from Teller Insight for interest paid on redeemed savings bonds to ensure that the address and social security number belong to the person cashing the bond and to make any necessary corrections in the government reporting system for end of year tax reporting. Independently set up, update and delete overdraft and automatic transfer requests, following established procedures. Ensure all work is completed timely, accurately and according to the procedures. Research and resolve problems and answer questions from the branches and other departments, helping to build a good working relationship between the Deposit Operations area and other departments within the bank. Required Skills KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Position requires 2 to 3 years of experience working in a CIS group or in a branch platform area with emphasis on account types, account relationships, business entities, and account documentation. Accuracy and attention to detail is required with the ability to organize and prioritize work to meet scheduled deadlines. Must be familiar with regulations pertaining to account ownership, CIP and tax reporting, including W8BEN and W9 certification rules. Ability to use a PC and Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word and Access is required with an intermediate skill level to perform inquiries, verify information and to accurately input data. Excellent communication skills are required. Must be able to explain problems clearly and interact in a professional/positive manor. Work requires independent thinking and judgment to resolve problems and to communicate the resolutions with the supervisor or to ask for assistance when needed. Analytical ability is required in researching and analyzing data pertaining to problems of a routine nature. SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.
