The Investment Banking Senior Associate is an intermediate level position responsible for assisting clients in raising funds in the capital markets, as well as in providing strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and other types of financial transactions in coordination with the Institutional Banking team. The Investment Banking Senior Associate also serves as an intermediary in trading for clients. The overall objective of this role is to act as a strategic advisor to our clients by formulating investment strategies and raising capital for clients.
Responsibilities:
- Support Citi’s private equity client coverage (Global Asset Managers group) in the Investment Banking business.
- Lead the preparation of industry, business and financial analysis related to strategic advisory and capital raising solutions for clients across all industries that Citi’s private equity clients are involved in.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Equity Capital Markets and Debt Capital Markets across multiple geographies to develop client solutions and act as project manager.
- Lead and audit the creation of various detailed 3-statement financial models to value existing and potential private equity portfolio companies, with an emphasis on calculating cash flow and future debt paydown in the case that Citi is contemplating underwriting any debt financing associated with a transaction.
- Present industry overview and credit and equity investment highlights to equity and risk committees, respectively, and conduct due diligence into company and industry as needed to address due diligence requirements to gain comfort around Citi’s commitment or involvement in each transaction.
- Leverage deep understanding of internal requirements and processes (from commitment committees to compliance) to drive internal transaction processes and get transactions across the finish line and serve our clients.
- Develop client relationships alongside Managing Directors and proactively seek to understand and address the needs of our clients. Lead client communication as needed.
- Play a key role in the training, development and recruitment of Analysts for the Global Asset Manager Investment Banking group in New York.
Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or closely related areas of Business Administration Master's degree in Business Administration
- Experience in evaluating corporate transactions and structures
- Experience creating financial analyses
- Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Experience assisting with client development
- Ability to work with teams and track business development (collect research, analyze industry trends)
- Series 79 and 63 licenses
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
