Join our dynamic team and collaborate closely with staff partners and a dedicated group of volunteers to amplify the impact of Breakthrough T1D's mission across the Mid-Atlantic (MAC) Chapter. As the Development Coordinator, you will play a key role in logistical oversight, donor relationships, and providing a mission-driven experience to our constituents.
The Development Coordinator supports, organizes, coordinates, implements, and expands a variety of the Chapter’s programs and development activities. This role aims to build and strengthen links to potential and existing volunteers and donors, growing the Chapter’s revenue through corporate, individual, volunteer, and community involvement. As a member of the Peer to Peer (P2P) team, the Development Coordinator will focus on the chapter's Walk and Ride programs.
The candidate must reside within the Chapter’s region, which includes Maryland, Washington DC, and northern, central, or eastern Virginia. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely or hybrid, depending on location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and uphold the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of Breakthrough T1D (Formerly JDRF).
- Understand and promote the strategic direction and purpose of the organization, supporting the Chapter’s fundraising strategies and business needs.
- Coordinate, evaluate, and expand fundraising and non-fundraising programs under the direction of the Development Manager, in collaboration with the resource team and volunteer leadership for the Washington DC and Virginia Beach Walks.
- Provide support to the Development Director for the Ride program.
- Ensure timely and accurate daily use of the CRM to document activities with donors and volunteers.
- Manage event logistics, collateral design, social media planning and implementation, and prepare necessary information for meetings.
- Collaborate with Chapter staff and volunteers across the Chapter area.
- Respond to and follow through on inquiries, needs, complaints, and issues in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Maintain accountability for meeting deadlines, responding to staff and volunteer requests, and other departmental needs.
- Maintain a strong understanding of Breakthrough T1D’s mission and priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 year of fundraising experience or relevant business/volunteer experience.
- Preferred experience in event planning and/or fundraising.
- Self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively, learn quickly, and function as an excellent team player.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with active listening, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly efficient in time management and meeting deadlines under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint), databases, and office equipment.
- Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms such as Salesforce, Luminate Online, CVent, and/or Greater Giving is preferred.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures and ability to develop presentations, reports, and business correspondence.
- Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrate flexibility and an ‘all hands-on deck’ demeanor.
- College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to travel within the chapter footprint as required.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
About the Chapter:
As one of the top-performing Chapters in the country, Breakthrough T1D’s Mid-Atlantic (MAC) Chapter plays a vital role in the organization’s success. The MAC chapter includes a staff team of fifteen (15), 1 Chapter Community Board of Directors, 3 Mission Boards in each community – DC, MD and VA, as well as leadership volunteers who are actively engaged and passionate supporters of Breakthrough T1D across the Chapter territory, which includes Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.
