The Community Outreach Program Manager oversees the planning and implementation of outreach programs strategies and events..Works in collaboration with the Strategic Advisor and Executive Director, Student Health colleagues, central university communications teams and departmental operations teams. At the Campus Health and Student Health organizational level, plan and implement in-person engagements with health stakeholders, partners, and campus populations. Engage clinical teams, amplify public health messaging and health promotion strategies, and execute education-oriented activities that empower our campus populations to become informed owners of their health and wellbeing. This role will develop program education, resources, and awareness events in conjunction with stakeholders and leaders to support the organization initiatives and priorities, as well as participate in community events and meetings.
Essential Duties:
- In collaboration with Leadership, responsible for development and implementation of all community outreach programs.
- Oversees the design and delivery of outreach events. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and tracking community outreach activities and programs.
- Manages day-to-day operational and tactical activities of program. Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations.
- Represents the organization by projecting a positive image to achieve trust and respect from the community, leadership, and stakeholders.
- Works collaboratively with Leadership, community, and stakeholders to achieve and execute outreach programs and events initiatives.
- Creates and organizes outreach engagements and related materials
- Represent organization in a variety of public settings to increase awareness.
- Works with internal and external audiences to build awareness and preference for organization and its services
- Establishes and maintains schedules of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
- In collaboration with Leadership, prepared and track budget for community outreach activities/events.
- Schedules regular outreach activities in the community and educate employees on community responsibility.
- Coordinate and oversee partnerships with outside community and stakeholders to oversee live events.
- Leads the planning of special events geared to improve services.
- Organizes and executes communications and live event plans to meet established deadlines and objectives.
- Writes and edits content for websites, e-newsletters, social media, and other communications channels.
- Writes interview profiles, executive letters, instructional content with clarity, precision, accuracy, and readability.
- Lead, promote, and publicize events and preparing announcements and promotions.
- Documents results of events to demonstrate effectiveness of program services
- Collects and analyzes data and information to focus on the community, events and strategies that may be useful to the organization and to establish measurements and metrics to assess the effectiveness of the program and/or events. Evaluate needs of general public and community groups.
- Lead, schedule, and supervise program volunteers. Train and orient staff regarding community outreach events/programs.
- Responsible for identifying, establishing and cultivating cooperative relationships with community-based programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Req Bachelor's degree Degree in communication, public relations, journalism, English, or other related field.
- Req 8-12 years Experience in public engagement in a higher education, public agency, foundation, or presenting organization setting. (*Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of work experience).
- Req Experience engaging with the public at community events, with respect, enthusiasm and positivity.
- Req Portfolio of strong written content, news articles, and promotional materials.
- Req Excellent organizational skills.
- Req Superb mastery of current technology tools (Wordpress, G-suite, MS Office, Zoom, etc.) and ongoing eagerness to adapt to new technologies.
- Req Enthusiasm for collaboration with multiple departments and disciplines.
- Req Strong public event planning, promotion, and implementation background, including directly running and promoting public events.
- Req Strong knowledge of budget management, supervisory experience, and staff planning experience.
- Req Strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms
- Req Detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time
- Req Ability to develop positive community relationships

Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The annual base salary range for this position is $81,120.00 - $133,010.00.
