SUMMARY
The Sourcing Associate is responsible for the sourcing activities of JOANN along with the Sourcing Manager. The Sourcing Associate will develop and drive the long- and short-term strategies within their departments and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This position identifies potential suppliers, conducts market research, evaluates supplier capabilities and manages supplier relationships. The Sourcing Associate is responsible for driving the management of both agent and supplier relationships to ensure: 1) cost savings initiatives are met, 2) consistent product quality, 3) on-time delivery, 4) execution of proprietary design and 5) minimized risk. The Sourcing Associate manages product lifecycle from beginning to end.
JOB DUTIES
- Direct Sourcing Initiative
- Develop, drive and direct supplier strategies that promote collaboration, optimize relationships, mitigate risk, optimize costs, drive design goals and meet the business needs for assigned product categories.
- Drive negotiation strategies through active monitoring of macroeconomic factors and cost management of multi bids, resourcing and rebids to deliver on goals of cost savings and IMU targets.
- Leverage manufacturing expertise and industry knowledge to execute supplier tiering and rationalization, cost engineering, country of origin diversification, etc.
- Vendor Management
- Create, interpret, and manage sourcing processes which include supplier performance, supplier placement strategy, time and action calendars, cost negotiations, analysis of profitability, and pre and post production.
- Execute proactive supplier performance management to mitigate risk and drive continuous improvement though scorecard assessments and supplier visits.
- Monitor, analyze and drive executive reporting on key metrics in terms of progress on sourcing & IMU goals, supplier performance, capacity planning, macroeconomic factors and their potential impact on the business.
- Product Lifecycle Management
- Act as a point of contact between cross functional partners, suppliers and agents. Responsible for proactive and clear communication with internal and external partners as well as leaders on elevating issues and on-going updates as it relates to supplier performance, sourcing strategies, on-time delivery and production and quality issues.
- Drive development calendar to ensure critical milestones are on track. Hold internal and external partners accountable for missed milestones.
- Travel domestically and internationally for development, cost negotiations, production and new market/supplier exploration.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in business or related field.
Experience Minimum: 6+ years in Merchandising including Product Development and Global Sourcing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
International travel required, specifically to factories around the world.
