General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Survivability Engineer to support the development and hardware fabrication for advanced Low Observable platforms at General Atomics-ASI. This engineering position supports the design, analysis and development of integrated hardware solutions for advanced aircraft applications as a member of the Advanced Aircraft Engineering (AAE) organization. In Survivability Engineering capacity, you will be a part of a team that focuses on the design and building of platforms from prototype through production. This individual will work across multiple disciplines to ensure these advanced platforms meet design requirements, and will be responsible for ensuring Survivability results meet expectations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop tools to aid analysis and predictions of platform performance, such as first-order modeling, material property prediction or estimation, geometry fixing, and design optimization.
Utilize industry standard tools for the prediction of RF properties for GA-ASI designs.
Suggest design changes based on these predictions to meet program objectives.
Guide and develop integrated RF solutions for a range of conventional and survivable platforms supported by results of numerical models and simulations in collaboration with senior personnel.
Participate in the design and fabrication of measurement and test articles (“fixtures”, “pole models”) for validation of survivable designs.
Support testing efforts at outside facilities and mature in house RCS testing capabilities. The successful candidates will prepare test plans, interface with vendor personnel, and may require being onsite during testing to ensure test integrity.
Demonstrate experience with survivable composite structures such that they can help guide design and requirements for new program builds. Be able to guide design and requirements for these programs to ensure results meet customer requirements.
Develop tools to evaluate measured test data of platform performance, including transferring measured data to numerous 2D and 3D RCS analysis codes to inform design iterations.
Provide technical support and leadership to ensure that work products meet requirements through simulation, fabrication and test. The successful candidate will prepare and present status and progress reports, PDR and CDR presentations, and formal proposals to senior level personnel and customers.
Provide technical leadership to IRAD and CRAD projects targeting development and implementation of Survivability technologies.
Ensure compliance, reporting, and safety standards are maintained. Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures.
Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.
Typically requires a bachelors degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Electromagnetics phenomenology experience with emphasis in RF technology is a must, with work related experience in integration of low observable designs.
Candidate should have experience in the following: Experience in design and modeling of vehicles and low observable systems utilizing 2D and 3D RCS analysis codes such as (but not limited to) RAM2D, Aurora, XPATCH, and SENTRi.
Proven experience with Pioneer, Saber or other similar tools for analysis of measured data is also desirable.
Experience in creating geometry inputs using CAD and meshing tools, such as NX, Rhino, and Cubit.
Experience in developing tools using MATLAB, LabView, Python or other programming languages.
Previous experience designing and fabricating LO air vehicles.
Understanding of a wide range of technical theories and concepts related to electromagnetics and RF integration of subsystems.
Strong written and oral communications skills.
Strong team player with leadership potential qualities.
Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Top Secret clearance is required.
Experience working in SAP areas preferred.
Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and techniques.
Ability to work extended hours and travel as required (<5%)

Welcome to Job Abstracts
We would like to take a second to Welcome You to Job Abstracts, the nation’s largest Pure Job Board. With over 3.1 million job listings from 15,000+ Companies & Organizations, we help job searchers find careers that match their interests. As an anonymous user, you have probably discovered how easy our system is to use. However, you have just scratched the surface of what we can offer.
We encourage you to Register so you can use our most powerful features: searching with multiple terms, setting up multiple locations, establishing favorite companies, and accessing your search history. If you find a job you like, you can apply directly for it, and then, keep notes on it. We will also keep a lookout for jobs that match your search terms and email you when we find something you may like.
You can register for free and the system is free to use. If you like our system so far, click on Register and unlock the power required by serious job searchers.
Any time you conduct a search, the system shows you job matches, ranked by their Relevance Score (RS).
The score is calculated by a proprietary algorithm that uses Intelligent Machine Learning.
The Relevance Score tells you how well the job opportunity matches your search term or terms.
When not logged in, the system is limited to one search term. Scores for single term matches are usually lower.
When you register, log in, and set up multiple terms prioritized by importance, the jobs found for you will receive a much higher Relevance Score.
