As we embark on an ambitious journey to redefine the financial advice landscape, we're looking for a Technical Product Manager who'll spearhead the evolution of our advice platform. The incumbent will be central to ensuring that our platform is not just powerful, but also developer-friendly, enabling seamless integrations and fostering a vibrant developer community.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Technical Product Manager for the Advice Platform?
API Development & Management: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of the advice platform’s APIs, focusing on ease of understanding, comprehension, and integration of our quantitative algorithms.
API Portal: Champion the development of a state-of-the-art API portal that matches or exceeds industry standards.
Documentation & Guides: Develop comprehensive guides, examples, and documentation to aid developers in understanding our algorithms and integrating with our APIs.
Developer Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with the developer community, gathering feedback and ensuring their needs are met.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Advice Platform and the Algorithmic Research & Development team to align the platform’s capabilities with the larger company vision.
Financial Understanding: While technology-focused, have a background in financial advice and quantitative methods in finance to ensure the platform serves its core function effectively.
Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate the platform's ease of use and developer experience, pushing for improvements and refinements.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
Role requires 3+ Years Experience in API Development: Proven track record in technical product management, ideally with experience in API development and management. 3+ years of experience working on Quantitative or Machine Learning-based products, with a strong preference for those who have demonstrated expertise in building products utilizing stochastic algorithms.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer/data science, Engineering or a related field. An advanced degree or relevant certifications is a plus.
Technical Prowess: Deep understanding of API development, modern integration methods, and best practices. Strong understanding of Stochastic and ML Methods.
Communication: Skilled at translating technical concepts into easily digestible content for a diverse audience.
Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with both technical and non-technical teams.
Financial Acumen: A strong understanding of financial services, with the capacity to articulate the platform’s underlying logic & algorithms.
Work Location: Ideally, this position will reside in one of our offices located throughout the United States, including San Mateo, CA, San Ramon, CA, California-Remote, Ft. Lauderdale FL, Baltimore MD, or NYC NY.

Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. The salary, benefits and variable rewards will reflect the seniority of the position and a competitive market rate. We expect the salary for this position to range between $170,000 to $180,000.
