Job Abstract

1. PURPOSE OF JOB: Under the supervision of the RN, the surgical technologist is to understand the principles and practices of surgical asepsis as related to patient care in the procedure suite. The surgical technician also provides clerical support to ensure smooth office operations.

2. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Preparing the Procedure Suite.

2. Responsible for Cleaning, Maintaining and Testing Medical Instruments.

3. Office Procedures.

4. Split based on need between Clinical and Clerical function.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

If hired or transferred into position after 12/28/20, must pass a nationally accredited central service exam for Certified Technician and maintain or obtain one of the following (within 18 months of hire) as appropriate for position:

Certified registered central service technician credential

OR

Certified sterile processing and distribution technician credential

2. Experience: Medical office experience desired

3. Other Skills: Basic computer knowledge, excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills, scheduling flexibility
