The School of Data Science at the University of Virginia invites applications for an Academic Administrative Assistant to provide administrative coordination and to support office operations and special projects. This position will operate under the direction of the Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs in coordination with the administrative team across the organization directed by the Associate Dean for Administration.
Responsibilities:
Support calendaring and general administrative support of the Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs.
Serve as a part of the general administrative core team to provide general clerical coordination to support operations, focusing on support of the Academic and Faculty Affairs Office.
Arrange non-grant related business travel, schedule meetings, and expense tracking for faculty as appropriate.
Manage purchasing for non-grant related faculty and academic needs.
Maintain electronic files and produce reports.
Provide administrative support for academic events including activities such as coordinating catering, reserving rooms, and other support.
Contribute to special projects as needed.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma. One year of relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to be flexible, to prioritize and to be organized.
Effectively manages time and resources to ensure that individual work is completed efficiently.
Develops and contributes to collaborative relationships to achieve goals for oneself, the School, and the University.
Ability to adapt and adjust to changes in work processes and environment.
Ability to use a variety of platforms and programs including Microsoft Office365 products.
Able to use cloud-based document management (Microsoft Office OneDrive, Box, Microsoft Teams) to share and collaborate with others.
Confidence in learning and exploring new technology tools and resources.
Anticipated hiring range: $21.63 - $23.07 / hour
