Position Summary:
Responsible for ensuring all GEPs, OCs, and Ground System HW/SW components transition to operations successfully, and checkout properly with mission operations according to plan. Ensures all documentation, infrastructure, and operational environments, workstations, licensing, and displays are appropriately configured and running as designed. Supports all coordination and troubleshooting to ensure the Ground System transitions to operations physically and virtually. Works closely with mission operations to support OPSCON/CONOPS execution across DOTMLPF-P. Provides expertise across the entire Systems Engineering V. Applies problem solving skills to identify and respond to system gaps proactively. Maintains active awareness of baseline requirements, interfaces, and integration touchpoints to ensure the system progresses through all milestones and the Tranche achieves operations, transition, and system closure.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Software Engineer for ground systems with LinQuest, you will work in a small and highly empowered team where every team member is directly responsible for the success of the program. You will apply knowledge and expertise to perform technical engineering support and analysis for the ground systems.
- Software architectures that enable 100s of nodes to work together on low latency edge computing while ensuring availability, resilience and zero trust security
- Use of a Software Development Standard (SDS) to maintain an open and modular software architecture
- Design of heterogeneous mesh networks with spaceborne, airborne, maritime and terrestrial nodes
- Performing the role of technical lead for Ground Systems development, including supporting integration efforts across multiple space vehicle vendors, and establishing the ground systems architecture and designs.
- Provide systems engineering guidance in the development of test and evaluation plans, system verification plans, and other systems engineering processes and documents
- Providing recommendations on systems integration and engineering baseline changes and assessing the technical maturity and risk of development projects
- Assist Government personnel with potential solutions across a wide variety of multi-domain, tactical, and mission area applications, including ground entry point acquisitions, operations center set up and maintenance, and ground software solutions.
- Develop and implement CONOPs and operational plans at both the system and mission enterprise levels.
- Coordinate development efforts with, and provide strategic advice as well as technical guidance to DoD and non-DoD agencies.
- Assist with system and subsystem design analysis, assembly, integration and testing, and data reduction of proposed technical solutions and formulating evaluation criteria of those solutions.
- Coordinate and conduct project meetings and reviews to include technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and program management reviews.
- Planning and oversight of DevSecOps or Agile Software development
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineer, systems engineering, physics, or a closely related field from an accredited university
- 15+ years as a Software Engineer
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer Lead of a large satellite project or ground station project
- TS/SCI Eligibility
- Demonstrated ability to work in a very fast paced, dynamic environment
- Experience with ground system software and hardware within a Cloud environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineer, systems engineering, physics, or a closely related field from an accredited university
- Experience in the DoD or Intelligence Community
- Experience working with commercial and/or Government satellite and ground systems
- Experience with ground station antenna systems
