Required Skills
and Abilities. General knowledge of California employment laws and practices, specifically, wage and hour, labor laws, and tax obligations. Excellent understanding of multi-state/location payroll and taxes. Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws. Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues. Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills. Excellent time management skills to meet strict payroll deadlines. Manage time effectively and adapt quickly to changing priorities. Resolve issues by using judgement that is consistent with policies, practices, standards, procedures, regulations or laws. Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and communicate with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups. Proficient in payroll software and systems, such as ADP and Paycom. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Power Point. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Job Duties
. Ensure accurate and timely processing of employee salaries, benefits and deductions while complying with relevant laws and regulations. Handles and oversees various aspects of the payroll management system, including salary calculations, tax deductions, benefits administration and statutory compliance. Processes and oversees bi-weekly payroll submission, as well as manual off-cycle checks. Prepares weekly reports for supporting departments as requested. Monitor and, in the absence of subordinating personnel, fulfill all payroll related duties. Lead development for the compensation structure, in full alignment with business needs; propose and oversee all aspects of the employee benefit plans, policies and budgets; initiate rate changes to meet market competition and internal equity. Define the standard and reusable approaches within the Payroll operational framework, and ensure team members acquire the necessary skills and performance attributes.
