The GW Office of Undergraduate Admissions is committed to helping prospective freshman and transfer students in their college search, and is honored to review applications from thousands of students around the world each year. The goal of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions is to create a class of students who will pursue academic excellence, thrive in our dynamic environment, and make lasting contributions to GW and the world.
The Assistant Director of Transfer and Spring Admissions plays an active role in the development of the coming year’s class of students. They build on their years of experience in the field to help execute key projects and initiatives. They will serve on a team focused on the enrollment of transfer students and spring first-year students. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to diversity and providing access to higher education.
This position will report to the Associate Director of Transfer and Spring Admissions. They will collaborate with campus partners such as orientation, housing, and academic advising teams to facilitate a seamless onboarding of students to the university. They will be a project manager for key initiatives the team undertakes.
Key roles of this position include the following:
Serves as a primary evaluator of transfer applications and spring first-year applications. The role will also include some fall, and first-year application evaluations, but transfer and spring applications will be the primary focus of the role.
Serves as the primary point of contact for transfer applicants
Conducts outreach initiatives with area and national community colleges
Executes recruitment initiatives with Phi Theta Kappa students
Evaluates students for merit scholarships
Manages articulation agreements with local community colleges. Ensures course equivalencies are up to date and develops programming to promote agreements
Manages transfer admissions webpage
Conducts virtual transfer student information sessions and yield programs
Develops and executes in-person transfer admissions programming
Represents the University both on campus and off campus via information sessions, high school visits, college fairs, etc.
Acts as a coordinator for special projects/programs related to undergraduate admissions
Serves as a front-facing representative of the university, advising prospective students, parents, and school counselors regarding academic programming as well as the process of admission for freshman and transfer students
The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC but requires significant travel throughout the year. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

2 years of professional experience working in college admissions, including responsibilities for territory and prospect management and application review desired.
Advanced problem-solving capabilities, creativity, and strong work ethic.

Ability to travel significantly and work on evenings and weekends.
Knowledge of trends and issues in higher education.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently coupled with strong organization and delegation skills.
Experience working in the admissions office, including evaluating admissions applications for admission in a selective university environment.
Persuasive verbal communication skills including excellent public speaking skills; strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various internal and external constituencies.
Flexibility and adaptability.
Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-volume environment that emphasizes collaboration and measurable outcomes.

$45,925.13 - $63,191.56 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?
