The Opportunity
Acts as “lead person” engaged in installing, maintaining, testing, and calibrating electrical and pneumatic devices and systems that are associated with power generation and distribution (both AC and DC), equipment control, and facility operations for multiple locations.
This position is represented by the United Steelworkers Local 573 and the filling of the position is subject to the terms and conditions of the governing collective bargaining agreement.
What you'll do
Installs and maintains conduit and wiring, tubing, and solenoid valves, transmitters, switches, and similar devices needed to power, sequence, control, and protect electrical and mechanical equipment and systems.
Inspects, tests, and repairs generators and their control circuits, motor control centers, AC and DC power systems, transformers, transfer switches, and other equipment and devices associated with power generation and/or distribution.
Installs and maintains systems such as yard and office lighting and building grounding.
Correctly interprets and applies the National Electric Code; sizes wire, conduit, motor overloads, breakers, and similar devices; uses necessary test equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Reads, interprets, and updates single line diagrams, flow schematics, circuit diagrams, instruction manuals and other written materials to install and trouble shoot equipment and systems.
Manages contractors and vendors while on-site
Responsible for appropriate assigned duties for completion of work orders utilizing computerized maintenance system program.
Uses computer for various tasks including but not limited to, time entry, e-mail, environmental reporting, station reporting, intranet, etc.
Must be willing to be confined-space trained
Knowledgeable of appropriate health and safety training in order to follow appropriate safety standards.
Ability to understand piping operating drawings
Assists in planning of work and participates as necessary in safety and/or team meetings and discussions.
Testing overpressure protection devices; station safety controls.
May act as leadperson in specified projects

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Master Electrician License or equivalent. (i.e. mining electrical certification)
Basic Computer skills required
Must be capable of obtaining required op-qual tasks for the position.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
May be required to stay away from home. May serve as inspector on construction projects. Subject to call-out and overtime. Travel to other facilities for support, training and necessary maintenance required. Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
Residency requirement of 30 miles and/or 45 minutes from the assigned work location is required. Must maintain valid drivers license to operate motor vehicle
