As a member of the Immigration & Citizenship Program, you will join an incredibly talented and hardworking group of individuals dedicated to providing holistic immigration legal services to our immigrant neighbors. Reporting to the Manager of Citizenship Services, the Citizenship Coordinator will take on an exciting new project of providing robust follow up to individuals interested in becoming U.S. citizens. This role will help reach and empower more lawful permanent residents to apply for naturalization. This person will be responsible for primarily managing lists, communicating with lawful permanent residents, and triaging legal and social work needs to staff. This person should have significant interest and/or knowledge in immigrant issues. This role will require the person to become a DOJ Accredited Representative. This position will be housed at the program's Pasadena’s office.
Essential Functions:
Manage list of lawful permanent residents using various tracking tools
Communicate with lawful permanent residents interested in becoming U.S. citizens and provide ongoing follow up to Naturalization forum participants using Impactive
Participate in Naturalization workshops and support with the event, including data collection and tracking of participants
Triage legal and social work needs to staff
Conduct client intakes and meet with prospective clients to answer questions and determine services needed
Assist in the development of the organization’s strategy for connecting clients of a particular department to BakerRipley’ broader continuum of services
Identify connection opportunities for specific program participants and help them leverage relevant services provided by BakerRipley and, as applicable, our partners
Support with outreach efforts and doing presentations as needed
This position will include training to apply for DOJ Accredited Representative status
Qualifications
Significant knowledge of and/or interest in immigration issues
Experience working with vulnerable populations and/or victims of trauma
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as a team player
Detailed oriented and interest in administrative legal tasks
Experience supporting legal cases either as a paralegal or a caseworker is a plus
