NKDHS is seeking a Cloud Engineering Intern to explore serverless infrastructure options for the NKDHS Data Platform on multiple Cloud Providers.
Essential Functions and Main Duties
- Will implement a data platform in one or more cloud providers that is capable of data ingest, ETL, and high-performance compute and viewing capabilities.
- Test cloud services and setups to determine performance and failure modes.
- Present cloud infrastructure plans and comparisons
- Implement infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform or other frameworks.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
- Duties may be modified or assigned at any time based on business need.
Qualifications
Education / Certification / Experience Required
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
- Level and compensation depends on location, experience, education and skills.
Competencies Required
- Intermediate knowledge of cloud infrastructure, networking, and deployment.
- Experience in setting up resources on AWS, GCC, Azure, or Oracle Cloud environments.
- Understands networking configurations for firewall, bandwidth, and requests per second.
- Knowledge of programming languages expected e.g.: JavaScript, and/or Python.
- Has developed and deployed a web application or API endpoint on a cloud provider or on-premise server.
- Experience with or general knowledge of both SQL and noSQL database setup and performance testing.
- Takes initiative when problem-solving and is not afraid to ask questions.
- Can work both independently on solution exploration tasks and in a collaborative setting to solve specific problems.
- Capable of presenting an ideal infrastructure setup in a cloud environment of their choice to solve a specific need (i.e., host a web application with a noSQL database).
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing, and to receive and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Able to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Compensation
The anticipated range for this position is $18.00 to $21.00. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, experience and location.

Working Conditions
Schedule: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday Friday, unless otherwise stated by the department manager. Holiday, weekend, and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the organization or department and are subject to change at any time at the Company's discretion.
Physical: Generally may require some reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying up to 20 pounds, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, standing, walking, sitting, hearing, visual acuity, color vision, and 2-way written/verbal communication in English.
